Blue Cakes

How does everyone seem to have such beautifully white cakes? Mine showed bruising after being birthed, more after being dunked, they turn a little bluer within 30 seconds of misting and fanning, after the second dunk some parts of the cake look like someone poured blue ink on them. Whats the deal?

I'm never rough with them! I was as gentle as possible through the entire birthing process, whenever I handle the cakes I make sure to touch them as lightly as possible, I spray with a very fine mist, and I was gentle through the second dunk! Is it possible that the city water is so chemically "enriched" that it is burning or reacting with my cakes/shrooms?

I don't know man I have well water. I always rolled my cakes in a whole bunch of fine verm and I couldn't see them so I don't know if they bruised or not.
After reading the trip report linked in your sig perhaps you should throw those cakes away and just stay away from psychedelics altogether! That's some crazy shit man!

I already ate some of the mushrooms, I had my self a hell of a good time! I've been way to excited about mushrooms for the past 6 or 7 years, I'm not about to throw them out if I don't have to.
The only reason that trip wound up so bad was because I somehow wound up with a massive dose, and ketamine some how found its way into my system.
Anyway, I'm probably gonna be harvesting a pretty large mushroom in the morning, and maybe another tomorrow night, those two are the entire first flush of 2 cakes as it would appear. How long should I leave them in the FC before attempting a second dunk?

I'm actually surprised that my cakes have not bruised at all. I thought I was being too firm when handling them with just two or three fingers; gently, but enough to make sure I wouldn't drop them. Do different strains bruise more easily?

Don't sweat the bruising. They will still produce..............touch them less!

Bruising can also be a result of the air being too dry. Could this be an issue with your setup?

Yes this definitely could be an issue, my perilite seems to be drying pretty fast unfortunately, and I run a fan at night because I cannot sleep with out it, but I turn it off as soon as I'm awake. I also positioned my SGFC so that it is fairly removed from air currents, but should have plenty of room to breath. It's in a closet with 6" of space behind it (short side) and a foot to the left and right (long sides), and at night I put a large box 6" in front of it to block currents from the fan. Also, there is no door on the closet.
And glad you enjoyed the trip report, it was interesting to write; I had a lot of images come back while I was doing the report, so that is the best explanation of the trip I've given.
