WA to get rid of medical marijuana?

Sorry if this has been posted already but...
Has anyone else heard anything about this?
Quote:
Three Washington state government agencies are recommending changes to Washington’s medical marijuana system once recreational marijuana legalization is implemented. Some of the biggest proposed changes according to Just Say Now:
Reduce the amount a qualified patient or designated provider can possess at any given time from twenty-four ounces of useable marijuana to three ounces. (Regular adults are limited to only one ounce.) Eliminate home grows and the ability for a qualified patient or designated provider to possess marijuana plants in any stage of growth. (Currently, patients can grow up to 15 plants.) A single system for medical and recreational producer and processor licenses. Only recreational marijuana stores with an endorsement may accept medical marijuana authorization cards. Make the new regulatory system for medical marijuana effective no sooner than January 1, 2015. (There are currently more dispensaries operating in many parts of the state than there will be licensed retails.) Utilize the same tax structure as recreational marijuana, but provide an exemption from state and local retail sales and use taxes on purchases by medical marijuana patients registered with the Department of Health. (Medical marijuana is not current subject to any special tax.) These changes are from the Liquor Control Board, the Department of Revenue, and the Department of Health (the full report can be read here). In order for most of these changes to be adopted, it would require approval from the Washington Legislature. I have been contacted by many concerned Washington medical marijuana patients. Many of these patients are the same ones that were contacting me about their opposition to I-502.
This going to be a battle for sure. I’m curious why Washington State agencies feel the need to change the medical marijuana laws in their state, while Colorado has left it’s medical marijuana program the same it was before legalization. Why not just keep them separate? Are you a patient in Washington State? If so, are you worried about these changes? Why or why not? Are you a recreational user, and if so, how do you feel about these changes?
http://www.theweedblog.com/will-washington-state-scale-back-medical-marijuana-after-legalization-is-implemented/
I'm not sure if I understand this correctly, when i 502 was being passed, I was under the impression that the medical marijuana system in WA would not change at all. Now there are recommendations to get rid of the medical system and make medical users buy weed from the new weed stores that are going to be popping up, but does that mean anything will happen or do we get to vote on it or what?
I'm not sure how this works, but I'm concerned because if this shit is going to happen, that means I can't grow and I can only have a few nugs of weed on me which is seriously stupid.

yeah thats what i got out of it, what bullshit if it's true.
the other day i was wondering whether or not they have some kind of ulterior motive legalizing it.

Well, that and the fact that we could have 24oz instead of 3oz are the main differences.
Other than those, which are fucking terrible, we will have to deal with shwag weed because the government is setting limits on the amount of thc that can be present in weed. Plus without being able to grow, it limits strains that are used to treat certain medical conditions, IE medical marijuana will not be existent in WA.
Plus concentrates will be illegal and I know only a handful of patients who smoke weed. Its all hash oils.
I did always like the idea of moving to colorado...

If they just like make sure it's easy for the right people to have licenses that wouldn't be too bad

Yeah the idea of limits on medical weed potency is fucked!
They didn't explicitly state that though they said you can't grow weed in general.

CO is looking awesome, the new laws are making things even better for medical patients. Sad thing that WA is just trying to fuck sick people out of every penny they own.

They want weed to be like alcohol and tobacco, which I understand, too much money that cant be taxed with growing marijuana because alot of it will be sold from growers.

Liquor control is in charge of the new marijuana regulations, and the second one is pretty easy; there is money involved.

If I'm understanding this right, they're trying to set a 1 oz limit on possession, after it's been legalized for recreational use? That seems so bizarre to me, it's like setting limits on how many bottles of liquor you can have.

The new rules are all REALLY fucking stupid.
I wish people would have read about what they were voting for instead of blindly passing that bullshit.

Hopefully they'll change some of the details when people aren't buying their overpriced dirt weed and just keep buying Cali weed from their usual connects. They're expecting a certain amount of tax revenue I'm sure, and when they don't end up getting it they'll have to change some shit around. I sort of expected legalization to make it harder to grow but really hoped it wouldn't, now I just hope WA ends up being the exception as other states legalize. No matter how you cut it, though, you can't tax something people can grow at home. I don't know if growing for personal use will ever be legal, unless they start issuing permits or licenses that you need to renew annually, like car registration. I would be all for that, as long as it's not unreasonably expensive.

Be happy with what you have, here in aus it's illegal, you get three warnings for posssion of under 7g. Then when you're caught for the 4th time it's a fine/charge and criminal offence.
One day we wish to be anywhere near the legality of cannabis over in some states of the US.
Doesn't stop us smoke though everyone does
Plus even though it's illegal, there are certain places where the towns people croud up and basically tell the law enforcement how's it's gonna go down haha! (Nimbin)
