Matsi Finds Anyone?
    #19024430 - 10/24/13 08:26 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Just wondering, i havn't seen many matsutake finds on here really. Bout to go looking for some, wish  me luck. From my understanding they grow under pines and manzanitas in a symbiotic relation with the roots. Aren't they like the most sought after edible by restaurants?

There have been a few fairly far north on the left coast...  I'm lower and don't think it's been cold/wet enough yet.

:nodofunderstanding:
I made some dobin mushi the other day with some matsis Ganzig found.  It was great, had a nice subtle flavor and the mushrooms had a pleasantly chewy/firm texture not unlike octopus.  You've really got to like Japanese food and prepare it the way they do, then they're pretty tasty.
