I grew these babies last year. Do you recommend consumption? They are still cracker dry and have been in a cool dark place for less than 1 year. I dried them using a dehydrator. Has anyone had experience eating shrooms that have been hiding for a while? Would love to hear feedback. Thanks!

they should be fine, im curious as to how they are rated, as in, whether or not potency has notably decreased.
I notice a difference after 6 months and again after a year, but, mine never stay closed for a solid year.

I've taken cubensis over 2 years old. I think you're gonna be good. I actually recently took some PE about a year old and had a wonderful time

The fact that you stored them with desiccant is why they will still be like new. Over time mushrooms absorb moisture and this is the reason for potency loss. When stored with desiccant in a dark place they can probably last a decade

Tested them out last night and I am assured that they don't have any noticeable potency loss. I would recommend this type of storage to anyone who wants to keep their mushrooms. They are in a plastic baggie to separate the mushrooms from the desiccant inside the mason jar. I expected them to be mushy but they still crunch when I ate them.

FWIW, the shrooms in my TR were over 2-1/2 years old and worked wonderfully, even being stored under less than ideal conditions in plastic zip lock bag with a desiccant. (found them while cleaning my kitchen)
Stored in a mason jar with desiccant they would last several years especially if you keep them in a refrigerator. If you want them to last indefinitely, dehydrate them fully with a strong desiccant and when bone dry vac-seal them and store in a freezer.
My favorite second-stage desiccant is dehydrated Epsom salts, as it pulls the last few percent of water out of them. To make this- cook epsom salts in an oven until they look like plastic foam, let cool and crumble this to a course powder and store in a mason jar. To use them wrap a small amount of the powder in a paper towel and put in a mason jar with your cracker dry mushrooms for a few days. This method also is good for storing mushroom powder too.

Good idea. I'll try that next time I grow. How much does Epsom salt normally run in you r area? And how much do you buy?

epsom salt is $3 for 4lb box/bag.
I regularly use the epsom to clean my glass ware 'pipes and bongs'
