Is this normal?
    #1902729 - 09/10/03 03:45 PM (20 years, 7 months ago)

Growin up i've always had like weeks where I was just full of confidence and some where I was just, well not depressed, but just kinda normal I guess. Is this just part of growing up? I presonally don't believe in all these bullshit disorders that doctors assign just to load people up on pills. I always thought it was something I had to tough out when I wasn't feeling to hot. Just wondering if anyone shared the same experience or not. I'm 19 btw. Thanks guys.

Thats life. I dont buy into these special disorders that apperently most of north america *suffer* from. As cheebatoke said...there's good and there's bad, a special pill isnt going to change that.

Im 18...and just getting out of my couple year rough patch, best feeling in the world.

Nothing like a good psychedelic trip with good pure life motivations twisting and twirling in your mind, to rejuvenate that confidence.

Yeah, I figured that it was just part of growing up, chemical imbalances and such. Not to be arrogant, I just believe that people who buy into that disorder bullshit aren't intelligent to realize that there is not such thing as normal!

I...thought that people who bought into those disorder's were generally, a great example of how marketing works, however, their certainly are exceptions.

A friend of mine went off his antidepressants/anti anxiety med's for 3 days a couple weeks' ago...ended up punching enough hole's in the wall to warrent replacing entire sheets of drywall, and ended up having his dad's hand broken on his face. Some people do have severe chemical imbalances and arnt functional without their medication...

However, not nearly as many people should be taking personality forming, mind numbing drugs as there are. I was on celexa for a very short while, and it severely messed me up for more than a year after.. Yes, perhaps i was normal...unable to feel emotion, or care, unable to see thing's through more than one perspective, unable to ration properly.

These drugs are the real mind altering drug's.

see, the government wants to control how you feel, when you feel it, why you feel it etc. Okay, maybe there are people who are so fucked in the head they just weren't wired correctly, but it's just relative to us, maybe in their head they are wondering why everyone isn't well being pushed around in a chair, I don't mean to offend anyone, this is just the only thing I could think of.

Soylent, that's EXACTLY what i'm trying to point out. Nothing is part of a personality, everything is just a disorder. It's like the damn docs are trying to bring everyone to some (who the hell knows what) "normal" state. It's just everyone wanting to believe that they have a problem and they need something to fix it. Correct me guys if you think I'm wrong. I just think people who aren't really "clinically depressed" but still depressed are just too naive or plalinly just too dumb to see past what is going on here. Not sure if any of you have read Farenheit 451. It's an excellent read, kinda scary how much it is starting to resemble our lives.

I agree with what everyones saying here.....after seeing how many ppl are prescribed pills for either depression or SAD or both...I decided to get off that shit....and I feel better now....I think it was just a period in my life and now I'm pretty much over it without the meds
