 I don't know why nobody else has confirmed it for you, but yeah, those are some nice pleurotus ostreatus.  Good eating.  Fall oysters are one thing I miss about the east coast, luckily I still have a culture I took from the wild.  And in 'Merikuh we call that a maple, the American sycamore (plane tree) has smoothish, mottled "camouflage" bark. :crazy2:

Awesome great info and thank you soo much! I was just now feeling a tad gassy but I ate sausage and garlic earlier before consuming some of the oysters and some puffballs i already tried before and was fine.

Duuuuude.  Do it if you can, I can't say enough for how much happier I am in Oregon than Pennsylvania.  There are a few species I miss from those old beech and poplar forests but there are no ticks, no skeeters and the diversity and quantity of mushrooms that grow in the PNW is nearly unbeatable in the US.  Myco-heaven for sure.

Looks like Pleurotus to me. The tree looks like either a Sycamore or an Oak. If I guessed by the bark I would say Oak, but if the leaves in the pic are attached to that tree, maybe Sycamore. Get a pic of the leaves and I can clear that up as well.

No. That ain't sycamore. Sycamores do not have that type of bark at all. Sycamores have thin, flat bark that peels off in sheets naturally with a white surface underneath.

It's what the Europeans call sycamore, but we call a maple, or sycamore maple: Acer pseudoplatanus.

nice find sir! thats alotta oysters!! i fnd them alot, all white tho... i tried them once and i didnt like it at all! but i think it was just a little paranoia cause it was when i first started hunting, i got them IDed and then went out the next day to get them and they were FULL of flies!! i poured two bottles of water on them and then brought them home and washed them for like 15 mins.... i just couldnt get the thought of all those bugs out of my head. i know i got them all and i have eaten plenty of bugs and other pretty gross stuff (fishing when younger.....) in my life but, i dunno... i cooked it up, had a tiny little bite and spit it right back out lol.... it was tough, not bad tasting, but my paranoia got the best of me and i just tossed it all lol...havent collected any since
