P. Cyanescens Identification?
    #19025557 - 10/24/13 01:03 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Hello Shroomery,

I'm in the PNW and stumbled across what matches the description of Psilocybe Cyanescens. Unfortunately I did not take pictures this time so perhaps someone more experienced could help confirm they are not poisonous look-alikes.
:badshroom:

Three days ago I collected 20 very small mushrooms between 1 and 4cm, the majority of them pinheads - yes I was ruthless.

I found them scattered about a heavily non-cedar-mulched woodland park under sword ferns and salal.Larger fruits had classic wavy caps (although no larger than 2 cm) All fruits had telltale white stipes that bruised blue/green to eventually purple/black. The pileus was very caramel and some hygrophanous.

I attempted to take spore prints on index cards but failed because they squashed in my pocket leaving wet blue blotches and trace black/purple spores.

My question: Is this enough evidence to safely confirm P.Cyanescens? :mushroom2:

No, a description from someone we don't know isn't reliable evidence like a photo, but they sound very much like them.

I don't think anyone will feel comfortable confirming that without a picture.
