Need help to id this wood growing mushroom

Habitat: Found growing in clusters on a rotten log in southern New Jersey, northeast usa on October. Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.
Gills: Dark brown gills. Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.Gills dark brown to black.
Stem:1 to 3 " white, fibrous hollow. Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.
Cap: Dark brown to off white. Concave convex. 1/2"- 2" across. Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
Spore print color: Dark purple to brown. Very important!
Bruising: No bruising. Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Wow your good.. thank you very much man. Now, if you don't mind i have one more. It looks like a species of gymnopilus but i am waiting for the spore print.
