Back and still at it. Here are some update pics. The spawn jars got a shake and are back to colonizing. Ending of garden season and winterizing took up my time. Stomach flu took me out for a while. I have some actives fruiting. Those are personal and my test subjects. I've also colonized a "bulk" sub(6 qt) of horse poo/compost/verm/coir with no contams. House got drafty and its been to cool so the myc is moving slow but steady. lost a jar to both a black mold and a green one. Three way battle. myc was first and took over a good part of the jar. then tue green showed up and a couple days later a patch of white that just looked different. soon i t released black spores and it has been taking over like nazis or the roman empire. its stopped where it has ran into myc tho. No plans for it Im just watching it
I've got 2 qt jars of wbs spawn and 2 agar jars of clean myc. I'm going to g2g to expand spawn and then Ill be fruiting small scale mono type to begin with. Probably a 66qt rubbermaid.

still not sure. I'm thinking a mix like I am fruiting the actives on. hpoo/compost with verm for water and coir to keep texture loose. I decided to do them because I know friends and family will eat them. I seen some buttons for sale at a local market at it was selling for $3 an ounce. $2.89 for one mature portobello. Not my target market but if people were paying those prices at the market I think me amd a restaurant can make some money.

Spawn it or wait a while? It'll be going into a pasteurized mix of cow poo, compost, coir and verm.

Is that white button myc and if so what kind of weather or climate are you in exactly? I'm asking because next spring my niece was wanting me to start her a white button bed outside and I still haven't found enough information that I would feel completely comfortable putting it together where I live in hardiness zone 6.

Yeah common button mushroom. Ill be fruiting them inside. mini mono tub style. If I started them in spring I could probably spawn them outside. They are a "warm weather" variety from a vendor and like it above 60-70f. Before I fired up the furnace they slowed down to a stand still. They were in the low 60s. Paul Stamets books are good. The Mushroom Cultivator and Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms. you can find pdf's of them easy.
