January 5, 2001 was the last time I cried. It was the only time my Lady has seen me cry in the almost 17 years she's known me. I had my dog Ben's corpse in my arms after having put him to sleep.

I knew enough not to make babies. What a mess my generation made. Almost as bad as our parents.

I cry a bit as a kind of surrender to what I've been through with panic attacks and schizophrenia.

Seriously came to tears a few weeks ago when I watched the futurama episode where fry finds his old dog and the last scen the dog is laying in front of panuccis waiting for him year after year. I seriously bawled over that shit.
Wow, same thing happened to me when I watched that episode years ago. My mom came in the room afterwords and asked me why my eyes were so red (she was always trying to catch me stoned). I had to try and explain to her why a cartoon had such an emotional impact on me. She probably just thought I was ripped

The last time I cried was earlier this week actually.
I was watching The music video for Alice in Chains "Rooster" which is about the Vietnam war. The video show a guy get his leg blown off, and him writhing around in the dirt clutching a branch hanging on for dear life. Also shows some young Viet Cong all bloodied and injured staring down the barrel of the gun that's about to kill him.
The video itself was nothing special, just some cheesy reenactments, but it still brought to mind the immense suffering untold numbers of living beings (humans and otherwise) have experienced. Thinking about this leaves me awestruck and fills me with an emotion I cannot describe
I should note though that my brain chemistry was pretty scrambled as I was coming off a bender. I notice Im prone to getting all sappy for a few days after hard drug use.

I seem to go through periods where I'll cry quite regularly (once a week or more, sometimes daily) and then go without for months. Sometimes I feel great afterwards, like it really brings me back to the moment and gives me grounding clarity. Usually though it's just a reflection of my headspace at that time so I will remain empty/depressed. Sometimes I'll cry because something feels beautiful too. Or from laughing really hard, now that's the shit!
When I was a teenager my room was next to my mother's and I'd hear her crying herself to sleep almost every night. That was really disturbing.

crying is one of the most therapeutic forms of release known to mankind and it is a damn shame that it is largely looked down upon in our society or seen as a sign of weakness.
i also find it ridiculous that crying is *only* associated with depression or sadness...there are times when i cry in the presence of beauty, or simply gratitude for life itself.
