Built myself a titi

So I followed franks TiTi tutorial and it's all set up and running now.
Cat inspection was passed at all stages of construction. Fits nicely in my closet. I'm a little worried since the aquarium heater I got has terrible reviews that I didn't read until I had already bought it but all the people who wrote those reviews said they were using it in 35 - 50 gallon tanks and this has only about 12 or 13 gallons of water in it. I used hot water to fill it up so right now the temperature is reading 100 degrees inside. Will wait till it drops to 85 to put any jars in. Will post results here. This became necessary because the temperature where I live is about to drop to below zero day and night. Can't afford to heat the house to above 65 this winter. My electric bill is about to go up to $160 a month at that temp. 80 would put me in the hole.

I would turn it down to about 78-80F.

Yeah I set it to 80. Just saying when it reaches 85 I'll put the jars in instead of waiting for it to fall all the way to 80.

Nice! I'm getting ready to make me one for the winter months. I heat with a woodstove and the back room where I keep my jars stays pretty darn cold in the winter

back in the day when I started growing I had one of those because I thought it was necessary.
if you have a really cold house I guess there nice, I would personally run it at is lowest temp or in the low 70's so that your not making it welcoming for bacteria.

wether you set it at 70 or 80 makes no difference as far as "welcoming bacteria".
If your jars get contamination, it will not be because you set your TiT at 80.
If you are going to the trouble of making a TiT, then set it at 80.

I am about to have a really cold house.
Though the consensus seems to be that it's not necessary, I've already noticed much slower colonization times since the temperature has dropped about 30 degrees since august. Also, I didn't get a lot of contamination during the summer when the temperature was in the 90's and 100s. I don't think 80 is going to make bacteria any more likely to grow in the jars. If the bad bacteria is in there the jars are already gone. People who've built franks TiTi don't seem to be reporting increased contamination rates.
It's about to keep dropping way way down outside. Temperature inside the incubator has steadied itself to about 82F. Hoping that will keep dropping to 80 but the thermometer I have is pretty cheap so it may be there already and I just lacks the means to measure it correctly.
