Fruiting Lions mane outdoors?

I have two large filter bags of lions mane that's fully colonized as of tonight. The humidity here in the Seattle area is between 90 and 100 percent, and I'd really like to put these bad boys outdoors to fruit. My question is, is 40's at night and upper 50's to low 60's during the day too cold? I've seen some post recommending fruiting outdoors, but the posts were early to late summer, and not early fall.

I just did. Tossed a bag outside after first flush. Went on vacation. Came back to some nice fruits. Don't think there was much humidity while I was gone, and it was fairly cold. I think you'll be fine, but don't know for sure how cold they're good to or how cold it got here.

Well you're near Maine if I remember correctly, and we are usually milder than Maine. There is hope! I suppose I should get a good pinset before opening them up and putting them outside.

Which brings me another question... What in God's name does lions mane pins look like? Just a Cauliflower hump? Any specific coloration I should look for? Thanks.

I'm not much of an expert that was my first successful bag. When fruit starts to form you'll know, looks kinda like little coral formations until it gets air, then you get the puffy, round look. Not really much need to look for pins, the fruits will form where they can find air, ie. where you cut holes.
I think the best way is to fold the top of the bag over around the block and cut like 2-3 holes about quarter-size. Try to keep the bag tight against the block so there's not air space inside, cause that will fill with useless fruit you can't harvest. You want the bag tight and only a few holes, then all the fruit will grow out those and form nice big fruits, easy to harvest. Be sure to give them lots of air.

Thanks Forrester

Only thing I have to add, if it is getting really cold at nice, watch out for bugs. At least here in utah if it is approaching freezing at night the bugs seem to eat them more. During the summer we basically don't have pest problems with lions mane. Not sure what makes the cold change it.

I don't mind eating bugs, just don't tell my wife.
