Opinions on weird cap growth and grey sludge in jars
    #19021740 - 10/23/13 08:32 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Hey all,

Curious as to what may have caused some really weird growth/curling on the 2nd flush of a BRF cake.  The fruits started growing normally upright off the side of the cake and then suddenly curved and went downward.  Two developed extremely fuzzy stems about a day before their veils broke as well.

The first flush from the cake did not have anything of the sort going on.  I made no major changes to my grow before they developed and they got plenty of misting in a SGFC.

Also, just birthed two cakes from my second generation.  One of the cakes refused to colonize a tiny corner of the jar due to some grey liquid/sludge collected there.  The pics show it after I rinsed it off before dunking.  Was this some sort of contaminate?  Another jar (inoc'd at the same time) is getting close to full colonization and has the same stuff along the base of the jar as well, so 2 out of the 4 have it.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

The mutant with a fuzzy base is most likely from low humidity levels. The grey "sludge" I have not seen yet in any of my grows. It looks like a bacteria infection of some sort.
