FoxDie's Fungal Finds!! (UPDATED 11/13)
    #19000396 - 10/19/13 04:13 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Seeing as though I'm always mushroom hunting (neighborhood, trails, forests) and always snapping pics (nearly daily), I figure I'll create my own thread.  I'll repost a few recent ones that I posted in other threads just to have my stuff together.

(all photos taken with my cell phone)

Today (10/19/2013)

Looked silly on this tree

Another angle

Amanita

Slimy ass bolete (birch?)

Hypholoma fascicular

Leccinum eh? Thanks!

Yeah, the mirabilis was insane. I felt like I found a holy grail. Its beauty was immense and it seemed so out of place amongst the green and brown forest floor.

I normally don't pick muscaria because I think they are just too beautiful but I wanted my roommate to see this.  She likes doing spore prints too.  It was picture perfect!

And here's some baby Cyanescens

Thanks Joust.  Yeah, it always amazes me how the "spikes" are so evenly distributed.  I'd expect the process of the cap opening to be more sloppy in regards to the remnants of the egg.

You would think so, but nature has a way of creating geometric shapes, its really interesting, and it doesn't surprise me that these mushrooms do the same, I think for one, they are small enough where a geometric pattern, or "even spacing" is achieved in appearance whilst still not being perfectly symmetrical in its geometry. - that sentence didn't make sense to me either...
I was looking at a A. muscaria pin yesterday for a long time, it was nicely even spaced because the cap was a perfect expanding ball, causing a geometric pattern.

But i always thought these were cool too.

Joust:  I love him but I worry so much when I have to move (in a few months).  Seattle's rental prices have sky-rocketed and with the increase in property values, it seems people are less likely to allow pets of any kind on the off-chance that they will "compromise" it's value.  Seattle is supposed to be so "liberal" and kind but in truth, it's a bunch of rich fucks buying up property and a bunch of poor kids like me just trying to enjoy the concerts and nature

Having said that... I'll never get rid of a pet because of a living situation.  He's my baby...

I just wouldn't let anyone have a large non-working animal anywhere on my property. Presumably I'd be rich so I'd be a rich fuck, but I think people are mistakenly presumptuous about their right to have stinking great dogs near me and my food, and cats in my garden. I don't care if they love them, they can try to work out where the thing diverged from any wild animal and take it there. Give me a minute and I'll try to engineer a lobby for increasingly tight licensing of any non-indigenous pets heavier than a baby rabbit.

And I'm nice to animals, good with dogs, but a pet-keeper-disapprover (not a hater).

:hatsoff:

but a keeper of domestic felines?  Check yerself.

Canines need to be confined to their own premises, particularly if they are damaging to wildlife or other domestic animals.  Beyond that, it's nunya.

If you're a cat keeper, unless you confine your animals indoors, which seems to me a horrible torture to the cat nature, your animals travel at will.  As a culture, we allow the domestic feline freedom to roam, mostly.

Interesting difference, but a pack of feral kitties has never taken down a toddler, either.
