TLDR that too, but Im able to imagine since I know something about that.

The last year I had a dream about this topic since I started building a raft for fun with my friend to ride the small streams we have here, and as we were able to build a small one for four people in half a day, mostly from recycled mats, I started thinking.
It was about building a huge raft, still from recycled mats, to go cleaning the ocean. Fuel is still a big topic but since it wont be neither commercial neither economic dependant issue sails could do the job too.

The main point is finding enough people willing to dedicate almost a whole life to a project like this, since it's a huge stupid thing, even if it still sounds great to me

Some kid called Boyan Slat (or Salat, cant remember) has already come up with a plan and design and think it was going ahead last time i hear to hav these enormous drfting catchments to scoop up al therubbish and collect it into reccling plants
Look him up
I think he was doing a phd at age 15 or something ridiculous, but watching his TED talks he seemed like a bit of a wanker

Yeah almost gayer than my gay pirates idea!

I'm sure all the radiation from Fukushima isn't helping the situation in the Pacific.

Yeah, and I'm sure the US nuking the ocean over 100 times back in the day didn't help, either.

Oh, wait: Fishing Bikini Atoll

Maybe the oceans are able to heal themselves, if we give them a chance?

That doesn't respond to my point.  I am not sure that the total biomass of fish in the sea is decreasing.

so do you think that as long as a single number is indicative of the overall fishstocks of the worlds ocean, thats enough to say the ocean is healthy?
