First time grower! Any tips?

Hi guys starting my first ever grow and wanted some tips, this website is extremely helpful and has helped me a substantial amount so far with regards to learning the methods used to cultivate mushrooms.
My first grow will be penis envy, this strain interests me the most ( don't get the wrong idea) like I said I understand the methods used but could anybody give me any tips on what I should be doing to lower the risk of infections and get the best yield?
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys. Kind regards, Trips.

3 Points of advice...
1. Pressure cooker pressure cooker pressure cooker
2. Follow teks as precisely as possible
3. Know your acronyms. http://www.shroomery.org/9423/Mycological-and-OMC-abbreviations Patience is required for this hobby. Colonization of mycelium, pinning, SHIPs curing, typing on a small mobile screen, everything really takes time. The urge to rush things is pretty common but you just have to be patient. Good things comes to those that wait.

Don't stress over something you have zero control over i.e. time. Don't touch your grow more than absolutely needed. When colonizing, leave the jars be to do their thing.

Follow the damn TEK exactly until you know why you're changing something. No substituting materials, no changing one procedure for another. Shit is written the way it is for a reason.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.

Just be as clean as you can and don't do stupid things. Wear gloves and try not to touch anything else or breathe into the jars after sterilization. You're probably going to have at least one contaminated jar, but it's not a huge difference.

Use a sgfc or monotub. Don't come up with cute schemes to automate the misting and fanning.
Dont let your jars get over 80 degrees during colonization. Once you birth you can stop worrying about contams. Fully colonized jars rarely contam. Make your life easier and construct a SAB for innoculating it is actually very easy and fast. When you read threads here make sure you're reading something relatively current ~2 years old. You will chase your tail if you're reading old threads. The info in the "Getting Started" section sucks and sucks badly. Research every topic via the forum. Look for posts by Roger Rabbit (aka RR), NotaHacker, or one of the trusted cultivators to get the final word on each topic.

being new myself, ive learned a few things pretty quick that might help with posting to this forum specifically. its pretty important to be humble and take the criticism constructively and not personally. personalities come off very differently via message boards. most of the people who post, in this section at least, are here to help and are genuine and some are complete assholes but you cant really tell which they are until you see repeated posts by specific posters. dont immediately take offense like some people do. take it all with a grain of salt because we are all here for the same reason: to fuel our passion for fungi.
when you go diving into the other forums such as the pub and the other odd forums is where you encounter the real whack jobs and trolling. take a peak if you like, but its a real mess in there.

- Make a good still air box (SAB)... very well worth it - Pay attention to all warnings about contams - Follow the TEK exactly unless a knowledgeable person advises you otherwise - Watch the "Let's Grow Mushrooms" video series - Be very patient - SGFC = shotgun fruiting chamber. Make it. And actually drill holes on all 6 sides - no one seems to be doing this! - If you ask a question, post pics so people can see what you mean - Plan ahead so you don't rush things and make a mistake

I hate to bump this again but I wanted to add one more thing.
Don't ever come on here saying my friend this and my friend that. N00bs around here just come across as a jackass when they ask questions for "a friend". They usually don't get help either.
