That means it can basically focus on things that are touching the lens. But you still need to have things lit properly which usually means leaving a few centimeters or inches between camera and subject.

Does this reishi look too old to you guys?

Ive never saved and consumed any with brown pores before, and this one looks a bit old, but still firm and not sqiushy.

It looks fine to me. I've dried and ground up much worse.

I think it means you can put stuff right on the lens.

...and focus on it?

the closest the camera I have now focuses is probably near 6-9 inches depending on the light.
I also got that tripod that you recommended, the one where you can shoot strait down.
My pictures should be much better soon. hopefully. :excited:

OBS- It does look old from the underside.

Does it smell?

It probably bruised brown when it froze.

Late summer is the prime time to harvest G. lucidum round here.

Just smells like reishi, it had alot of water in it.

I think it will be fine i put it in the dehydrator.

Hmmmm. I dunno man. Good luck!

Have you dehydrated this species before?

I suggest cutting it into pieces. I use a bread knife.

After it is dry I bust mine up in my blender to make a powder
like texture.

Super easy.

Great move! I still haven't got a tripod yet. That is probably the next step for me.

I usually dont harvest Trametes versicolor, but i found a real nice patch today and decided to take some to make a tincture with. Ive been taking reishi tincture and found it very easy to take mixed with drinks each day.

Ive heard great things about the medicinal benefits of T. versicolor with anti tumor properties.

Heres what i harvested

And I didnt pick these ones yet, until im done dehydrating the other ones. but they are now happy at home in my garden. Nice clusters growing from each side on cut ends.

Flammulina velutipes I believe. I did not collect a specimen for further investigation. I was on my way to work during the foray. If it is it would be my first time finding it.

I have no clue on these.

Panellus serotinus I presume

And finally a Fomitopsis pinicola that I revisted from about 3 years ago.

this is it from 1/20/10

What color were the gills and stems on those Flammulina?  They look a bit Hypholoma-y to me.  Spore print?
