I found this in a 10 year old thread....I'm posting it because I still see lots of talk about what is more potent: azzies or cyans.....
(Hopefully the discussion thread is the appropriate place)

I have posted this and others similar here before. I have analysis to proive that Pau;l Stamet?s listing of Aazurescens is not the most postent shroom in the world.

Read this and then asked anyone from The PNW who eats these baby fellows (Psilocybe cyanescens Wakefiled) exactly what it is I have explained over and over.

Each individual shroom has a different balance of chemicals in it when placed next to another shroom of the same species. And different species have different potencies.

Psilocybe cyanescens in its young stages are the most potent of mushrooms. Here is an example of their power. You can have four to five large mushrooms such as these postred below, weighing one fresh ounce and only get four to six people high. Those shrooms posted below are fresh and weighed a slight few grams over one fresh ounce.

and then you could have a one ounce bag of many fresh baby Psilocybe cyanescens weighing one fresh ounce and get 20 people high on the same weight. But that has only been found to occur with P. cyanescens. Some say P. subaeruginosa are also potent in the button stages.

Here is the picture of small potent Psoilocybe cyanescens.

That clump came close to an ounce. At a party we fried 17 people with the approx 37 shrooms in thatt cluster of musrhooms, each one to one and a half inches in height and a few close totwo inches.

A one once fresh ounce bag of these babies could have from 25-40 or more one to two inch high small P. cyanescens and get as many as 15-20 people high with no problem at all.

mj

This was slightly revised from another post to better explaine the potencie of the Psilocybe cyanescens.

For better verification one can always asked Homestead book Co. about the private Mushroom party where several people went to the emergency room for pigging on a bowl of such bbabies ehern they were told not to eat more than three or four small shrooms.

Several ate ten andmore and got pranoid and went and had their stomachs pumped because they did not listen.

ANd another thing, P. azurescens loise over half their potency aftrer several months of being stored.

Gartz found that out while doing private research at Leipzig University.

mj

mj

And without being arrogant, anyone here can believe anything they want about whatever they read elsewhere or not. That is your trip. I just share some of my klnowledge and if people want to doubt it becasue they read something different elsewhere than that is their trip/.

Oh yes, one more thing, 7 to 10 fresh Copelandia cyanescens can also be more potent than one giant P. azurescens of the same weighyt.. Ask anyone who has eaten them for the first time and tripped.

My chemical analysis revealed that Copelandia cyanescens collected by me in Hawaii was the most potent Copelandia ont he islands. However, every single mushroom analysed is of a different chemical count and would have different potencies which are not consistent soith other shrooms of the same genera.

Read the Bigwood and Beug and Beug and Bigwood articles I posted here on the analysis of twenty collections of specemsns from 7 genera and see the varied difeences in analysis from shroom to individual shroom.

One mushroom being potent does not make the who genera potent as the one single shroom.

While it is true that cyanescens pins are more potent per weight than mature cyansescens, it is 1,000,000,000% more true that mjshroomer is full of shit.

Just found this recipe on the NY Times website and nearly came while reading it, so I thought I'd share. I know its a bit late to find edibles, but I'd feel guilty if I didn't pass it along.

weird. I do. (original link should work now, but you don't need it anymore)

It comes from a vegetarian thanksgiving recipe collection w/ lots of other awesome stuff. the link to the whole collection: http://www.nytimes.com/projects/well/vegetarian-recipes/#home
does that work?

Regardless, here we go:
(if you don't care if it's vegan or not, replace the Enery-G egg replacer w/ 2 eggs, nutritional yeast w/ Parmesan cheese)

6 to 8 servings; about 30 ravioli
Dairy-Free, Vegan

For the filling

    1 cup raw cashews
    2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
    ¼ cup chopped white onion
    ¼ teaspoon chopped garlic
    ¼ cup chopped shallots
¼ cup chopped leek, white and pale green parts
½ pound cremini, morel or chanterelle mushrooms, stemmed and chopped
    1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
    2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
    ½ teaspoon sea salt

For the Saffron Pasta

    1 teaspoon saffron
    2 cups water
    1 cup semolina flour
    3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
    3 teaspoons Ener-G egg replacer
    ¼ teaspoon sea salt
    3 tablespoons palm oil, melted
Fine yellow cornmeal or semolina flour, for dusting
    2½ cups tomato sauce

For the Cashew Crème Fraîche

    2 cups raw cashews
¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
    ¼ cup water
    ½ teaspoon sea salt
Minced fresh parsley, capers and tomato sauce, for garnish

Butternut Squash Filling

2 pounds butternut squash, peeled, seeded and cut into 2-inch cubes
    2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
½ teaspoon ground or freshly grated nutmeg
1 fresh sage leaf, finely chopped
    Sea salt
------------------------------------------------------------------

Preparation

1 To make the ravioli filling: the day before using, put the cashews in a bowl and add enough cold water to cover them. Cover and let soak overnight in the refrigerator. Do the same for the cashews you will use to make the Cashew Creme Fraiche (see recipe below).

2 In a large sauté pan, heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, shallots and leek and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook until their liquid has evaporated, about 10 minutes. Drain well and set aside to cool.

3 Drain the liquid from the cashews and rinse under cool water. Put the cashews, the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and the water, lemon juice, nutritional yeast and salt in a food processor fitted with the metal blade and process until smooth. Add the mushroom mixture and pulse a few times, until the mushrooms are incorporated.

4 To make the pasta: soak the saffron in the water for about 30 minutes. Put the flours, egg replacer, saffron-infused water and salt in a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Add the palm oil and mix well. The dough should be smooth and not stick to your fingers.

5 Press the dough into a rectangle and roll it, a small section at a time, through a pasta machine. You may have to repeat several times to reach the desired thickness of approximately 1/8 inch. Sprinkle the surface with a small amount of cornmeal or semolina flour to prevent the dough from sticking. Cut the pasta sheets into 2-inch rounds or squares.

6 To assemble the ravioli, put the pasta pieces on a floured surface. Place a teaspoonful of filling in the center of each square, brush the edges of the dough with a bit of water, top with another piece of pasta, and press the edges with your fingers to seal, and then crimp with a fork. Spray the ravioli with canola oil cooking spray on one side, then flip them over and spray the other side. (If you don’t have cooking spray, brush both sides lightly with olive oil.)

7 Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the ravioli until just tender, about 2 minutes.

8 To serve, spoon tomato sauce into shallow bowls. Top with alternating layers of ravioli and Cashew Crème Fraîche. Scatter a bit of parsley over the sauce, top with a spoonful of capers and serve at once.

Cashew Creme Fraiche

9 Drain the presoaked cashews, rinse under cold water and drain again.

10 Transfer to a blender. Add the lemon juice, olive oil, water and salt and process until smooth. The mixture will keep covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Butternut Squash Filling

11 Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

12 Place the butternut squash on a rimmed baking sheet, drizzle with the olive oil, and toss with your hands until evenly coated. Bake the squash for 45 minutes.

13 Let cool, then transfer to a large bowl. Add the nutmeg and sage and mash until smooth. Season with salt to taste. Use as an alternative filling for ravioli, following the instructions above.

No not at all, delicious mushroom recipes are always welcome.
I was more confused how the topic of ninja swords got brought up.
I haven't checked this thread in a few days because on weekends I have a life, but definitely not on Mondays.
I'm just kidding around, you guys can discuss whatever floats your boat.

hmm... seems to me that people who only post during the week and squeeze off-line time into the weekend are selling the majority of their daylight time during the week to someone else for the most part... Is that "A Life" or is that a form of indentured servitude and/or debt slavery? I like working for myself and making my own hours, doing what I'd like to do when I'd like to do it... I guess it all depends if you enjoy what you do for a living and if you don't mind being forced into a schedule.

edit: just trying out that whole "discuss whatever you'd like" thing.

What I meant by "having a life" is that, I have school and other responsibility during the week that force me to be at home, and therefor I have time to fuck around on the internet.
During the weekend I try to get out of the house as much as possible because it's my only time to do as I please, so I try to make the most out of it by not being at home, on this site.
I think it's awesome that some people can have all the free-time they want, but I'm not one of them.
An indentured-servant I am not, I do what I do because I want to do it.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of profession do you work in that you can completely make your own hours and still afford to live?

I write, mostly relating to entertainment trends and how to interject concepts that relate to influencing buying trends, on both the investment and consumer level...

In short, I watch/read/listen to things that inspire me either creatively or to foster others creativity, research what entertains and inspires others, then condense that into situation specific scenarios that have shareholders or executives (with good enough sense to hire me when I query them) captivated through the text. I take on their rose colored glasses for short periods of time, then live how I live with that perspective in mind, and toss a decent presentation together about how they should proceed.

It's basically telling businesses how they need to present themselves in various media in order to present what they actually represent so those that they want to generate interest in will be interested. It's not advertising or marketing, but it could be considered PR, but its MY PR. It's not for specific businesses, but for common philosophies contained within mission statements, and if the mission statement sucks, I won't touch it.

BTW, I didn't mean any offense to anyone in this thread, I know little about anyone here. I'm kinda new here, and I don't fully follow who can read sarcasm, who's using it, and how to navigate a forum with such an awesomely eclectic mix of intelligent wholistic beings with wisdom that's rare in those uninitiated into the psychonaut set...
