Does drying mushrooms make them less potent?

So we have a few pounds of Cyanescens we picked. I know that the active compounds are very water soluble, so I'm wondering, will the dried mushrooms be less potent compared to fresh ones since the water is evaporated out? Or is the amount lost negligible?

Thanks for that. I had about 6 made into tea the other night and that blew me off my rocker, totally underestimated the potency of these guys.

No the water content doesn't affect potency (someone correct me if im wrong).
However drying will degrade psilocin, but each mushroom will have varying ratios of it.
So just dry them and it'll be good.

Another quick question, how often do you pick from a fruiting patch? I was thinking I'd hit my patch maybe once a week for the mature shrooms, or is that far too much?

as the veil opens, for each one.
learn to work with isolates and you'll be able to harvest once per flush.

I'd do that if I had time to go everyday. Would I be safe checking for ready shrooms every 3 days or so? Or should I space it out more than that?

Please don't pick babies.... Try to only pick adult mushrooms Weekly is ok... If they continue fruiting ... Many places will only fruit once...
Drying to cracker dry the sealing in bags (as little air as possible) will keep most of the potency for months... Vacuum sealed years
If they are dirty, can give quick rinse in bowl of cold water... Try not to bruise Save water to use to start new patches.... Also any old or nasty mushrooms can be returned to the wild.... Catch and release program
If you want some fun, read up on starting mycelium on cardboard and egg cartons

No don't worry, I would never touch the pins or tinier ones, just wondering how long it takes pins to open on average. We've already sprayed 2 or 3 new spots with spore solution. Weather is pretty good here for Cyans so not too worried about fruiting stopping. Thanks.
