Can anyone identify these mushrooms? They were found in the woods of Arkansas. They were growing out of a broken up log. I'm not sure what they are, nor have I been able to find them by description anywhere. Please help! Thanks!

They are dry, and starting to rot around the edges. This makes it a difficult ID.
That being said - I think RuralAnomaly is on the right track. Its some species of Psathyrella. Given the hygrophanous cap, dark gill colors, and fragile white stem I don't think it could be much else. As for what Psathyrella? I can't say.

I think you've found a Psathyrella species.

Hmm.. I looked them up but I haven't seen anything that looks like this. I took a picture while they were there so I wouldn't mess them up when I did dry them. Has anyone seen anything like them? Aren't they almost mature considering they're flat?

Yep. They are mature, half dry, and starting to rot around the edges (giving them that dark band around the cap). You are not going to find pictures that match because you are looking at photos of fresh mushrooms. Your mushrooms are not fresh. Go check that spot again after the next rains and you will see what I'm talking about.
