UFO on mushies?

I have a full spectrum 7 band, 350 watt light that I'm not using. I'm wondering that if I raise it high enough, it wont be too much light for them but will it help in any way? It has three fans on the top that will get rid of any heat built up.
Here it is:

you need a 6500k flourescent bulb. I use the small 26watt swirly ones. screwed into a lamp. Get a few of em. Just some simple flourescent lighting is all

No such thing as too much light. Put it as close as you can without causing too much heat.

I have 10 of the clamp on 26 watt ones. I just hate to see something sit that was so expensive. I was intending to grow something else with them but I can't do that ATM.

I wouldn't use it just because it was expensive. Your opportunity cost analysis will show you that getting a 26W 6500K bulb will save you money in electricity. They only need so much light to derive all the energy they can. I would use it if it were not so high in wattage. It's just going to dig into your energy bill.

really? running a 350 watt ufo is just overkill, especially when growing a small tub etc, flouro's are best for this..

Just because something is overkill, does not mean it's a bad thing.

I just wouldn't want to spend that money for the slight difference it might make over a single 26w bulb.

Without trying something is speculation. I like to experiment to prove results. That seems to be where we differ.

If you like to experiment, or were going to anyway, then why did you ask
Hopefully your caps look extra with the extra light.

if overkill isint a bad thing, i could put 2000 watts on a 2x2 area.. does this make it a good thing? no its a wasted thing.. using a 360 watt ufo is a waste on a small area,, save the bulb life and using it on plants.. and use cheap floro's on mushies geesh...

I was reading a thread where a guy was curious to what LED grows would do to a grow. It sparked my interest as to what it would do and figured I'd get the responses you gave me. I wasn't looking for naysayers, they're a dime a dozen. I was looking for people who want to expand the art of growing and don't get stuck growing in a fish tank like I did 30 years ago and it was state of the art then.
We've come a long way and I believe that it will be the experimenters who will add new techniques to the science and the hobby. If this does work, I can try to dial in a less expensive light that puts out more bandwidth. As far as I know, 6500K are the highest bandwidth that we can obtain with consumer floros. The UFO puts out wavelengths far above that.
Mushies grow in the sunlight in nature. It may help to add a higher bandwidth to simulate mother natures light spectrum. It may be a waste of time.
Curiosity killed the cat. Or did it?

It's only gonna run up your power bill with no advantage over a small CFL.
It's not that it's just overkill, it's just a complete waste of money. The experiments have been done already (how do you think I know to tell you this?) but you can waste your time and money for no better results if you like.

I have wasted tons of money on more important stuff in the past and this light puts out 6500K and above. I know it's a shot in the dark (no pun) but what do I have to lose$. $3.50 in electricity?
I don't doubt you, I just want to see for myself. Thanks for the heads up.
I won't go into the advantages of growing other things with LED vs. Metal Halide and other antiquated energy hogs.
