Please help - I really think I fucked up my eyes permanantly

Hey everyone,
For the past few months, I have been doing something that now I realize may have permanent ramifications on my eyesight. This may seem like some troll thread because of the ridiculous nature but I assure you it is not. Back in June, I stopped smoking weed and doing all psychedelics. I was heavy into DMT and mescaline, tripping at least 5x a month for a number of years. When I stopped, my head felt better in some ways, but I obviously missed it. One day, while out in my backyard watching birds with a pair of binoculars, I (stupidly) decided to stare at the sun using the binoculars. At first I couldn't last more than 10-15 seconds before turning away. Afterwards I would get these intense psychedelic patterns, almost similar to DMT, without the mind fuck. I started doing it almost every day, and gradually was staring at the sun through the binoculars for up to 2-3 minutes at a time. I would have intense visuals for up to 10 minutes afterwards. I stupidly did this for a few months before I started getting intense headaches during the day, on par with migranes I've had in the past. My vision has also become extremely blurry to the point where I don't feel comfortable driving. I stopped a few days ago and was really hoping this would subside. I use to have 20/20 vision but now I can barely read the computer screen or a book without it being extremely blurry. I know I have to see an optometrist but I am mortified at what I will tell him. I am a college grad with a masters degree and work in a very competitive field. Should I even tell him about my stupidity or just tell him about the symptoms? I really feel like I may have fucked myself up permanently. Has anyone ever done this before, and if so, how long did it last? Please help

Your eyes are changed, but mine are like that now as well from years of computer gaming and a few pop UPS that went straight into the sun and I had to look directly into to catch it. Anyways its not so bad, you'll notice when you talk to people without eye glasses or eye contacts on, that you can't make out facial expressions so you get much better at listening. It's awesome really, its like a completely different mindset.

Go to an eye doctor, tell him you play sports (tennis, baseball, idk whatever sport you can think of that would require staring up into the sky)
May need to get glasses or contacts - I don't think you can reverse sun damage to your eyes, burnt retinas and all. That really sucks and I'm sorry for you, but holy shit you are some kind of special retard!!

I know you said this wasn't a troll thread but I'm having serious doubts... I didn't even think this level of retardation was possible.
But if you're serious then I feel for you man, get a booking with your optometrist, see if there are any standard glasses that can fix the problem, if not, tell the optometrist what you did and ask his/her opinion on where to go from there. Best of lucky to you.

This was supposed to be a joke, but just in case there are others like OP out there, I feel like I should clarify.
DON'T LOOK AT THE SUN THROUGH A TELESCOPE. YOU WILL GO BLIND.
And if you were thinking about doing it before my disclaimer, please don't have children.

Is this really any different than doing crazy extraction processes and smoking and inhaling chemicals to get high?

I suspect most people assume you're trolling right now. How could this be legit? (That's an honest question.) We are all taught, when we're very young by our parents, and teachers:
"Don't look directly at the sun. It will hurt your eyes."
This subject comes up again and is re-discussed (with new warnings and admonishments) every single solar eclipse.
"Don't stare directly at the eclipse. Even if it doesn't seem bright, even if you don't feel it, it can damage your eyes."
We are all told this. Where did you grow up to miss all these warnings? Under a rock? How about common sense? Even a few seconds staring at the sun will cause temporary disruption in your vision. That should have been a hint.

And this is the point at which I'm convinced you're trolling. If you're not, you really need to take a look at your logical process, because it's not quite up to par. No offense.
1- Yes, yes it is different. Majorly.
2- Sure, "inhaling chemicals" probably isn't very good for you. If by "chemicals" you mean"drugs" (as I assume due to context) then yeah... still kinda bad for you. Though how bad depends on the specific drug, and how much of it you're "inhaling." As far as I can tell, most commonly smoked drugs are not as bad as, and not analogous with staring at the sun (through binoculars, no less.)
The closest would probably be smoking really poorly made, un-washed/cleaned straight-to-base DMT with leftover lye in it.
Or inhaling mildly acidic fumes that will burn the fuck out of your lungs over repeated periodic exposures. That's almost perfectly analogous to what you did. Smoking "pure" drugs? Not so much.
3- Did you not ever play with a magnifying glass when you were a kid? That one simple childhood experiment should have been enough to show that what you did was epically stupid.
The sun is a giant glowing ball of nuclear fire. So bright that it heats our entire planet from millions of miles away. Being directly in the line of the sun, is the difference between a cold night, and a warm day. Focus the sun's energy even a tiny bit (as via a magnifying glass) and you can actually set things on fire. Again, from millions of miles away. Most of us knew this as children. Hell, even if you sit out in the sun long enough on a hot day, your skin "burns" and becomes painful, even without magnification.
Now, in the off chance that you're not trolling:
1- Go see a doctor.
2- If it makes you feel any better, there are people out there that practice what they call "sun gazing." In other words, they purposely stare at the sun. However, they do this starting with just a couple seconds at a time, and increasing length.... and to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever done it through binoculars.

I did it as a kid (didn't know there was a name for it) despite the warnings. I got to the point I could stare at it for a minute or two without having to look away.
I had surgery on my eyes when I was really young and it left me really sensitive to light, like I couldn't even walk outside without squinting so bad I might as well have my eyes closed. So I wanted to weaken my sensitivity, and it seemed to work.
I have 20/20 vision, and see better than most people I know, including low light conditions where most people can't see anything but blackness.
