What kind of pastures do liberty caps grow?

What I'm really getting at is - is a deer park a good place to go looking? I went to one maybe 3-4 weeks ago and saw nothing. Is it worth checking again to see if they've come up since?
I've heard of them growing on cow, sheep and horse pastures but I'm not too sure about goat or deer.

Just keep going out there and tell us if you find any.
I assume you are in an area where they might actually grow. Is this correct?

Well it's Ireland. This place is supposed to be full of them. I know a place where they grow abundantly but it is about 1.5 hours drive from here. I have found some locally, but only 6-7 after searching the entire field. I guess someone got there before me

The important part is the grass Cows and other animals help spread spores really... Maybe some nitrogen in the soil
I have found them growing in fields that have never seen a cow, horse or sheep
Agree with the above... Do they grow in your area?

Another question - is it even safe to go into a deer park this time of year during the rut? I'm a bit worried, but maybe its okay if I'm careful not to get too close to the males?

I think I'd feel safer with a bolt action rifle or something, somehow I think a sling shot would just piss them off!

Do liberty caps always have to have the slimy top. Because I found some ones that look very similar that aren't slimy at all. Victoria, Australia

Really? I have found my fair share of libs....but I never have found them outside of well manured areas. I am confused in general about this. Cinctulus is a Saprophyte but likes well fertilized areas. Same goes for Semilanceata. They are both saprotrophic mushrooms but you will find them most commonly in very well fertilized areas. It doesn’t make any sense to me.

They can live in any grass. It's just that fertilised grass is better. Different conditions.
