pluteus species ID request

Hi all,
Pretty confident these are pluteus, but would like one of the resident experts to confirm which species. I suspect cervinus but would like to be surer.
Thanks

http://www.mushroomexpert.com/pluteus.html This key will be very helpful in determining the species you've found.

They look free IMO. Looks like Pluteus cervinus group although they aren't usually clustered like that.

Probably Pluteus, but species identification requires a microscope.
How are the forms of the lamellar cystidia? Does the pileipellis have clamp connections?

Are you using European keys or did Fredo hook you up with a sneak peek?

Hi Joie,
Yes, the gills are free. More aged specimens at the site had pink gills.
The grouping could be a result of some serious sawdust to work with, it was slabwood covered in sawdust to form a ramp
I was kinda excited to actually eat these (in stew) seeing how, for once, i actually found something before the bugs did.

FAN keys are good but if I was working on one I would speak directly with Fredo & Vellinga.

Usually it works out pretty well, I have had very good luck doing this.
Last year I was working on one and I kept posting pics of cheilo and Else kept telling me that those were pleuro. After 3 go arounds with this Else told me to keep scoping the gill edges until there were no gill edges left, lol....

That looks like a hell of a place to put Psilocybe/Gymnopilus spores/spawn.

lol yes, i'll have to actually find some first
you should see the piles of sawdust... two stories high
i did lob a few of these pluteus up on the side of one.
speaking of which... i DO have some spores from another post i had a week or so ago, bloodworm was ambivalent, and despite checking the spot, no new fruit. that said, i have a baggie with quite a few spores in it i saved in case he asked. the collection bag was coated and when they dried they dropped off nicely into a powder in the corner.
mycowalt was just a few miles away last week (from posts on MO,) too bad i couldn't have asked him lol
this was the first time i've ventured on this site, it was um.. unsanctioned but i couldn't resist. for now i look forward to spring?

for the sake of anyone trying to ID in the future, I'm adding to my old post now that I think I have the species narrowed down. Sorry if its not good form, but on revision i feel these are Pluteus petasatus
http://www.mushroomexpert.com/pluteus_petasatus.html
no micro to confirm, but the above fits very well

IIRC Pluteus spores don't germinate easily unless they're very fresh, and P. petasatus likes this kind of pseudo-terrestrial habitat much more than other members of the genus, so sadly I think that plan won't work out.
Also I think it's excellent form to update threads a week or two later if that's how long it takes to figure out the mushroom's identity. Thank you!

thank you, for this info too.
it'll be fun to watch just to see what all pops up there over time. I'll be checking in the spring
