Yeah I don't think I am going to consume it, definitely not enough for a dose.
Not to mention the thinning at base of the stipe is a Pholiota trait isn't it?

It's a trait of mushrooms that grow in dense clusters.

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

Nice find OP! Either way Jim or Pholiota. My spore prints on my suspect jims are that color orange on foil, but different than rust brown on paper.

Did you guys even look at the picture of the cap? Its totally slimy. Jilms maintain a pretty "dry" appearance even when its raining...

The cap had been nibbled on leading to some camera trickery with the cap appearing shiny. I do recall it being a bit tacky though. Which made me toss it.

I thought it was an odd find being that it was growing solitary. Almost all the Pholiota I find are in very large clusters.

How would you describe the feeling of a wet Gym cap?

Idk, wet? It just won't have a jelly slick and glossy coating like pholiota. The fibres are still obvious.
