psychedelics and prozac/history of depression

i'm 18 years old and i was diagnosed with depression and anxiety not even a year ago, probably around april or may. i was in a psychiatric hospital for around 5 days and the doctors put me on 25mg of prozac. i started smoking weed around the time i was in the hospital, and more and more as time went on and since then i've never been happier. when i'm high my way of thinking is completely different, i'm so positive and full of energy and high hopes for everything and it's an amazing feeling. everything is wonderful. i still have episodes of depression, but it's usually not too bad and it's at night when i'm alone. i've been researching lsd, shrooms, salvia, dmt, mdma, etc for a while now and i want to try them all, not at the same time obviously, but i want to make sure i'm prepared. i don't want to do it for the feeling of being high, i want to open my mind, which is the whole reason i started smoking weed. i feel like you guys have more experience than me and can maybe give me some advice?
should i wait until i'm off of prozac to do any psychedelics or other drugs? and how should i prepare? i know to be in a controlled environment and it's a good idea to be in a good state of mind and have a 'babysitter' but i'm just a little nervous and so excited to expand my conscious and see life in a different way. i know that i can still have a life changing experience without drugs, but i'm still thinking about psychedelics. any help would be really greatly appreciated.
sorry i'm really new to this website as in i just found it and joined like 3 minutes ago but i can tell that i'm going to be spending a majority of my time on it from now on

Welcome to the community girl whos profile pic involves boobs
I have not heard convincing evidence one way or another if psychotropic prescription drugs have any effect on trips. Some people recommend taking a short break before you do them, some say thats a horrible idea and to keep taking them, some say not to trip at all.
As someone with undiagnosed but pretty obvious depression, I would say just go for it, prozac and all. You can never know unless you try, and the prozac is likely to only diminish your trip somewhat, whereas being in a sad state of mind is likely to make your trip go south.
Read a bunch of trip reports in the Trip Report section, look for people who have tried it themselves, but more importantly look for regular pitfalls. No two people are alike and in the end it all comes down to the individual. A buddy of mind enjoys tripping but hates weed . People are strange

Prozac is an SSRI, and SSRIs lessen the effects of psychedelic chemicals that mimic serotonin, like psilocin and psilocybin. So you won't have as strong of a trip, or you might not even trip at all. If you want to be sure then stop taking Prozac for at least two weeks before you plan to trip.
As for preparing. It's nothing like weed. If you feel like you need a sitter then you probably need one, but you know yourself best. It's important not to have any worries, preconceptions, concerns or obligations looming over you that you aren't prepared to deal with when you decide to trip (such as work, relationship problems, parents checking on you, unexpected visitors and the like). Once you're tripping, it will be impossible not to worry about anything that you don't want to worry about, and you will be forced to deal in one way or another. You may learn things about yourself.
You should trip in a place where you feel the most comfortable, since your set and setting will affect your trip very heavily, and it can affect it in a positive or a negative way.
Good luck to you <3

Great to hear its working for you! I had anxiety last year and the doctors put me on xanex for the short term attacks and tried various ssris to stabilize my mood. After taking the ssris I felt like a zombie, never laughed, cried, or even felt happy or sad. I hated this feeling! I tried tripping while i was medicated and the effects were completely absent. I took a break from the ssris and tripped again. I had the most profound trip of my life! I realized i shouldn't be using medications like this, I just wanted to be me and see where life took me. After the trip i told my parents I stopped taking xanex and prozac. I haven't taken those drugs since. My cure is psychedelics, weed, and homies! Just because the antidepressants didn't work for me doesn't me they don't for you. If they make you enjoy day to day life, then great for you. If you want to trip I would suggest taking at least a week or more of the prozac before you trip.

This thread has been closed.
Reason: You got your answer. SSRI's can negatively effect the intensity of trips.
Sorry, I am going to have to close your first thread, though.
After twenty posts and two weeks of being a member a forum will open where you can discuss this topic.
Please keep posting and welcome to The Shroomery.
