Laminar flow can fan?
    #19010192 - 10/21/13 07:16 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

My friend has an extra 8" can fan that he is going to give me if I can make a laminar flow hood from it. I have read several post regarding if a centrifugal fan can actually produce laminar flow. Here are the specs on the fan http://www.canfilters.com/max_fan_8_12.html . I am looking at a 12"x24" filter (the stats on the fan say it can produce 420 cfm at 1" of static pressure, but only 150 cfm at 1.25". I have read that some filters have .8" of static pressure and prefilters are .1-.2" static pressure. Would it be possible to mount this fan and achieve laminar flow?

I have read the fungi fun site regarding calculating the fan vs blower. Are most hepas 1" or .8" static pressure. Fungi fun assumes 1" hepa and .2" prefilter

Maybe I need to clarify my question. Will a centrifugal fan produce laminar flow? I read the thread where RR said he didn't think it would due to turbulent airflow. Others thought that it would due to static pressure of the filter. This fan isn't like the booster fans that tjernlund sells though. It isn't a booster fan. It is more of a can fan.
