    #19009760 - 10/21/13 06:04 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I've looked this up in the Audubon book and have come up with two possibilities.  A Yellow-tipped Coral or Crown-tipped Coral mushroom. One is edible, the other poisonous.

Could anyone lend a guess?

Thank you.

Habitat:
Woods

Gills:
Yellow Orange

Stem:
Solid

Cap:

Spore print color:
Not sure how to take a print for this type.

Bruising:
I did not notice any.

Other information:
Smells just like a Chanterelle.

Hericium coralloides? Or Hericium ramosum?

That's probably more likely.

To yellow for that. Im pretty sure its a Ramaria. Hericium grows on wood. This looks as if it is growing from the ground. Also Some Ramaria are posinous.

As I recall, they were growing on the ground. I did not notice any decomposed wood under the leaves but the group did look as if they were in a line. Like they would be following a root.

They were growing near an oak tree.
