I installed car audio systems for a couple years when I was younger. Maybe I can help you out a bit.
My favorite systems for the price were always MTX (for subwoofers only tho). You could get 2 12's and 2 10's for around 700. I suggest going with the 7500 series or higher if you want real quality.
As far as amps you can't ever go wrong with Phoenix Gold, but I think you'd go over your budget with 2 amps. Kickers are always reliable and have a good amount a power for the price. You're going to need a a 2 channel amp or the subs and a 4 channel for the door speakers.
For the door speakers, I'd recommend going with 4 way pioneers. They are cheap and have 2 built in tweeters built in to each speaker.
As far as the head unit goes since you're using external amps it makes absolutely no difference which one you get. It just comes down to what features you're looking for. I'd go with the absolute cheapest one that has the options you like. The only thing to really look for is that it has a decent EQ built in.
Wring, you should go as thick as possible. Especially since you're running 4 subs. You're gonna want to go with 2 or even 0 gauge wire. I suggest buying it from ebay as brand name wiring is extremely overpriced and is the exact same thing.
Hope I could help out a bit. If you have any more questions let me know.

Most subwoofer amps are mono, and should power a pair of 4ohm subwoofers. JL audio subwoofers are expensive, but one w7 10' sub can hit as hard and loud and low as a wall of lesser quality 12' subs. Car audio is a love of mine, really makes a drive enjoyable.

Yea, when I get home later tonight I'll send you some links. I'm wondering why you're looking at a 2 12" 2 10" set-up? Do you just want to be able to hit different frequencies? --------------
Rockhound, yea JL's are really nice. They are a bit expensive, but really worth the money.

Ever hear of massive audio? Thats what i have running in my whole setup, with car audio you have to check the RMS of the product not the "claimed wattage" which is the peak wattage.
I got massive audio door and rear deck speakers which are soon to be hooked up to an amp. I got 2 12's Massive audio Kilo ( 600 rms each ) Im underpowering my subs right now on a massive audio N2 ( 800rms at 1 ohm )
Its not done yet till i get my door and rear deck hooked up to an amp and a bigger amp for the subs but with the setup i have now it slams hard and low with exceptional sound clarity aswell.
Keep in mind, depending on your vehicle if you want a decent setup you are going to need to do some electrical upgrades FIRST. My voltage started dropping low enough to make the amp cut out and my lights dim at 800rms until i replaced my starting battery with a kintetik 1800.
Eletrical upgrades to keep in mind.
1. Big three upgrade. 2. Depending on the RMS your setup will have a higher output alternator. 3. Upgraded stock battery
Car audio gets pretty expensive quick. What is your budget OP? feel free to pm me.

It gets expensive quick, for sure. The good thing is, car audio is a modular kinda system, you can always add on later.
