Medicinal & spiritual purposes only
Harvested the second flush of pink & wild oysters

Made a nice mushroom soup out of them

MUSHROOM SOUP RECIPE 10 cups mushrooms 1 onion chopped 3 cups chicken broth 1/4 teaspoon ground thyme 2 1/2 cups half & half 1/2 teaspoon sea salt 1/2 black pepper 6 tablespoons butter 6 tablespoons all purpose flour
1. Cook mushrooms, chicken broth, onion & thyme about 15 minutes, mushrooms should be nice and tender. Place in a blender and puree, leaving a few chunks and set aside.
2. In a 6 quart sauce pan melt butter and whisk in the flour, salt & pepper.
3. Once blended smooth, add in the half & half and the mushroom puree.
4. Stir & cook over medium heat until thick & bubbly
12 Servings(about a gallon)

These bags are "Hericium erinaceus" they do quite well on enriched mixed hardwood
I have 4q of "Hericium americanum" ready to bulk. I'm a little concerned since I did 4 straw bags recently of the americanum strain. It absolutely would not jump to the straw. My thoughts are since the strain tends to grow on acidic fir trees in the wild that the Hydrated lime used in the pasteurization process lowered the acidity too much. This cultures devours my gypsum soaked grain. I'm going to give the hardwood mix a try. If this experiment fails I'll have to break down and get a bag of Douglas fir wood stove fuel pellets and try again.

Looks like Hericium americanum is off the table for now These grain spawn jars went south with what I'm guessing is a yeast bacteria Looks like it's back to the lab with this culture. Gonna get it on a petri dish and see what's up. I'll have to get back to it, a nice gentleman in MI sent me some dishes that need attention first. I need to get these on slants for storage and grain for a test run Super Michigan Shiitake Espresso(Pearl) Oyster King Oyster Blue Oyster Pink Oyster

Wonder how intense the color of the fruits on this Pink Oyster dish will be. It looks nothing like my other Djamor culture pictured below

Friday morning I was sterilizing grain
Dog to the vet for lunch
Poured dishes & slants for desert after dinner
After all that my ass was whooped, so I left the FH running all night and did the transfers and grain inoculations in the morning

Nice work man!
Just curious how long you wait in-between your shiitake flushes and how you go about initiating them?

No waiting, harvest the fruits, then just cold shock & rehydrate them by placing them in a bucket of cold water over night. They usually have a few pins already pop corning out on them starting the next flush at this point(dunking doesn't harm pins).

Pink oysters are done for the season I think it's too cool to fruit them now. These wild oysters don't seem to mind the cool weather
My Lion's Mane may have gone a day too long(got slightly pink on top) What I heard about Hericium being dangerous to harvest sometimes, turned out to be true. I tripped over a water jug and shattered one of my pompoms
