More precise description of bacterial contam smell?

Greetings everyone, I have 8 jars of Colorodo cube spores on brown rice/verm currently in incubation and I have some minor concerns about bacterial contamination and the particular smells associated with them. I'm about a week and a half into incubation and 4 jars are being taken over by mycelium at a decent pace, and 1 jar has just started to produce signs of myc growth but the others show no signs of growth at all. I have 2 layers of foil and just barely hand tight lids on each jar. My question is what exactly am I looking for in the realm of smell if I'm dealing with bacterial infections? I suspected that the 3 jars that haven't shown any signs of myc growth may have been contaminated with bacteria so I wiped down my area and lifted a small fold on the foil to get a sniff. They don't smell great, but it certainly isn't repulsive or nauseating; almost like a wet gym sock or something similar, nothing major; I would categorize it as a very mild odor. All of the jars, even the jars with steady myc growth emit this scent when I put my nose to them. Is this normal? surely all of my jars couldn't be contaminated? Can anyone give a detailed description of bacterial contam? I feel like I may just be paranoid seeing as how this is my first grow. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If any odor develops other than the mushroom smell then yeah it's probably contaminated. Not necessarily bacteria, molds can produce some odd smells but that's usually after you see something growing.
You should leave the foil off after you inoculate them. The dry vermiculite layer is enough to protect them. The foil can block gas exchange and in some cases leads to the dry verm getting or remaining damp which makes it ineffective.
