Bulk Tray Fully Colonized?
    #19008871 - 10/21/13 02:45 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Just want some opinions on how its looking and if it is ready. My first time using bulk substrate.
What looks brown is covered in very very thin mycelium.

(I know myc eats aluminum trays)

To me that looks like it's about ready to explode, drop the temp down and start fruiting. That's my opinion.

Fruit it.

Make sure you mist and try keep water droplets on the surface pretty much at all times. When you mist it should create thousands of little balls of water on the surface, and stop misting if they begin to puddle.

Keeping your substrate hydrated is highly important for growing in Al trays. The mycelium eat holes through the Al, and dunking becomes increasingly difficult. I found a good way to dunk was just to take a new Al tray and fill it with water, set the half-eaten tray (containing the substrate) into the new tray and  set something on top to weigh the bobbing cake.

Hope I could help!

Thanks for the advice. I fruited it. I've heard RR saying that you can pour water in the tray and pour out excess water as opposed to doing a full on dunk. I'll put in another tray below it to keep the water from dripping out. So that is what I plan to do in that regard. I'll post a pic of the flush when it comes.
