Not all cfl bulbs are created equal

I was under the false impression that all fluorescent bulbs put out light in the blue spectrum. I found out yesterday that this is not the case . I have just always used whatever cfl I had on hand for fruiting.
Yesterday I was on the light bulb isle at my local hardware and I was going to pick up a couple new cfl bulbs and I just grabbed one of the cheaper ones. I just happened to flip the box over and read and right there it was... 2700k
I ended up looking through a bunch of them and all of the regular cfl bulbs were around 2700k. I had to find the ones that said daylight. Those were the ones that were 5000k to 6500k. I ended up buying one of the expensive 6500k bulbs and I brought it home and put it in my clamp light. Man what a difference! The old cfl I was using looked orange in comparison. Maybe my mushrooms will be happier now.
I just wanted to share this with you guys because I was under the false impression that you only had to look for "daylight" bulbs when buying incandescent but I was wrong!

2700K is intended to replace incandescent lamps for people accustomed to everything looking yellow. It's actually a bit better for reading as it's softer on our eyes.
Daylight spectrum is what is best for mushrooms, preferably 6500K. RR

Yeah I know. I don't know why but I just had the false assumption that all fluorescent bulbs were in that 5000K to 7000k spectrum. Now I know better
That is why I made this thread. I didn't want anyone to make this same dumb assumption

Surprised you did not know this... of course not all cfl are created equal. 6500K is what your are looking for, it's a daylight bulb, more blue spectrum.

I can understand your confusion, i didnt pay attention to the color either when i first saw CFLS.
if you notice now, all bulbs have a "Light Facts" chart on the back of the package that oddly looks like Nutrition Facts on the back of every boxed/wrapped food item.
I currently use a 27watt 5000k CFL for my stuff. I bought it for when i used to grow weed (untill i got caught by the fuckin cop assholes), so thats why the wattage is so high. Whats great about it isthat my FC doesnt need a heat source, the 27w bulb is plently warm! Pretty cool.
Oh, and the 2700K is so common cause it is intented to replace typical incandecent bulbs, which baturally have a warmer, organge-yellow color.
Still, around the house, still love the incandescents. Did u know FL light strains the eye faster than Incand? Its becuase the FL pulsates light faster than the eye/brain can precieve and this pulsing causes eye strain. I learned that on Bar Rescue! So never put FL in a bar, bad for customers and employees.
