If you have nothing to lose, mind as well try. Do the cake looks/smell ok still or is there any new sign of contamination on them?

I've dunked for 96 hours before with no problem.  So, a 72 hour dunk should be ok.

Also, there was a member who misread 24 hours as 24 days and they still produced fine.

Hope this helps.

It should.  I think it's just metabolites because when I did the 96 hour dunk they came out slimey with a little odd smell but after a couple days they bounced back.  Or it was bacteria and the myc held it off and killed it.  Either way, they still worked.  Not recommended though.

Good luck.
