I'm thinking of moving to Washington so I don't become an alcoholic

So Ive got problems. Like everybody else. And i've been self-medicating for them for about the last six years. But Ive recently started drinking way more than I would advocate anyone drinking because I can't get my hands on weed anymore. Plus I got really fucking tired of punk-ass dealers who stood you up like an ugly prom date. So I'm not interested in that any more either
So next year when Washington is selling weed legally, I'm thinking I should make my way out there so I can get a reputable, non-addictive product from a reputable, non-murderer source. Thoughts?

Physical relocation to deal with a personal problem rarely works. There is alcohol in Washington too.

I think you should move. I am a pot head and if I lived in the USA it would be Colorado or Washington or California or Oregon. Living in a state it is banned is expensive as hell and you usually have no strain choice, and you are at mercy of crappy dealers, and fucked if you get caught. You don't want to live in place where the DOC among the people is fake weed. I would drink too much if I lived there too. I plan on going to WA a lot next year as I am right over the border.

Booze (as a feeling) bores me. Im drinking right now and while not sad, I'm also bored as fuck. I used to drink beer just for the taste and a little buzz, and on rare occasions heavily for social reasons. But I also smoked weed like a fiend haha. Now its opposite, I smoke weed when people have it (which is essentially never) and drink to keep myself sane. If the equation were back to its natural order I would still have a problem, just one that is easily solved (since weed is amazing)

The weed is definitely more consistent and you do get a lot more choices on average through the Wa system, as well as it being cheaper on average - though in states where it is banned, there is still definitely very good weed - just slightly less prevalent, fresh and more expensive (in most cases)... I mean. It's banned wherever you live in Canada, no? And its still plenty smokeable - not much different here.

Washington is an excellent place to become an alcoholic. I hear ya though- I too look forward to being able to openly smoke pot in social settings and pubs and stuff. Cali will come around soon enough for me, and hopefully with a much better bill than Washington passed.

I've heard examples of people using a change of scenery to break an addiction. Obviously you can buy alcohol wherever you are but a fresh start has potential for helping break out of a rut.

I'm going to move to Washington for the hops and barley.
No but seriously, there's a lot of beer and alcohol up in Washington, it's a huge hop area, and they grow barley up there too.

like they say "where you go, there you are."
I'd like to be where I are, besides wa. Maybe Louisiana someplace, with a cabin in the swamp. I can sit on the porch with a shot gun and shoot gators and anacondas. And eat gumbo, whatever that is. Sounds yummy

Yes but if his problem he can't get weed and he CAN relocate.. why not move somewhere where he can?
I'd trade an alcohol addiction for a pot addiction anyday
