Every once in awhile I'll spend some time totally sober, then I ask myself "why?" and smoke weed again.

I spent some time sober last year. I also spent three months so depressed I couldn't believe I woke up every day alive.

They happened to overlap for some reason. I don't really get why...

I am working on it, I used to smoke all day but now wait until late in the evening, each day I can go a little longer. Weed may not be physically addicting, but for me it is mentally addicting.

It does not help that all my friends grow and I do not have to pay for weed. . .

I'm an alcoholic.  Once in a while I try.  Get a good three days here n there. Most I've had was like three months a few years back. It was cool. I'm fixin on maybe going back to school. I have too much time on my hands so it's hard.  Bad excuse I know. But a rich girlfriend with kids who actually just as much rather I tend to the house and take care of the kids here n there.  It all works out. Life's a trip. I'm actually very lucky. I'm sitting by the train tracks right now drinking with my dog. I really enjoy my life. I consider myself very blessed. I've been around the block and somehow I always wind up in good situations. But yea.  Not sober at the moment.  I struggle with it. Sometimes I wonder if I'm skitzo. But I'm pretty sure I'm just ....I don't know the word.  aware?  Conscious?  Life's a trip. I'm not sure where I was going with that. It's cool to be down by the tracks posting on the Shroomery. Man.  I've seen some shit. :dancingbear:

Well, I think that while weed is one of those things that you can use frequently without much of a problem, alcohol is a different story.

I have a friend who has developed a bit of a drinking problem as of late. It sucks. Hanging around him when he's drunk is like playing a roulette -- you never know which version you're gonna get, the funny, likable guy or the violent asshole who flies off the handle over nothing. And he can transition from one to the other so fast it's frightening.

I've known other alcoholics, many of them in my family, and most of them have displayed the same sort of behaviors. They act unpredictably and irrationally, they make excuses for their behavior, they make excuses for their drinking. :feelsbadman:

I'm not boasting about it.  It's pretty shitty.  I've eaten more shit than most can imagine. I belive I have hppd. And well.  Alcohol just quiets my head.  As well as fucks up my head.  And my life. I've got two dwis under my belt. I'm not proud.  I'm a good dude.  But even my best of friends and family can tell you what alcohol does to an otherwise righteous person. I couldn't because I usually don't remember. I've got nothing but love though. Alcohol for me is pretty evil.  So it goes though.

:rofl2:
Neither was I for a while.  Then I got older and realized I actually couldn't function without booze.  I was sleeping with bottles on the side of my bed. Drinking six packs before work.  Eventually I was like woah. I think I've heard of this before.  Thing is I'm a very personable guy. I don't really even get drunk much anymore. At the point where it just makes me normal.  That's when you know.

Honestly when I eat mushrooms it kinda gets me off that drive. They ground me so. But sometimes I go so long between sessions. I don't know

Yes mush. I am you. Oh you didn't know?  :awesome:

Funny thing about the run in the family thing is I find it true.  However.  My predecessors were from a different time.  My grandfather and most of my uncles were all firemen and or cops.  So they got away with everything. And we're looked up to. I'm the long hair freaky wayward. We are all the same.  I just never became a fireman.  My uncle was a cop.  Got into an accident on the job. At like 35. Went out on disability for life basically.  Ended up getting hooked on painkillers and drank more than me cause he could afford it.  Got in an atv accident few years back and died.  He was most certainly fucked up when it happened.  We don't talk about such things which I get. But I'm the asshole who can't get it together n gets aressted for this and that and the family worries about. Lmao. It's so twisted. Anyhoo. rip uncle Chris.

I spent about 7 months sober in the past.
Did rehab, sober living and a little extra time afterward.
It lead me to becoming a drunk until getting back into psychedelics and weed, but it also got me to get over all pharms.
Wasn't happy sober, but the time I was, was needed time.

I already have drugs secured for after that though

Depressant doesn't mean that it makes you depressed. It means it lowers the rate of physiological activity in your system.

If alcohol makes you depressed, that's as much a part of your soul/psyche as if it makes you angry.

On topic, in March-April I quit smoking pot after five years and found myself drinking an awful lot since, but haven't picked up a glass or a bottle in about a week or two, since my last experience with :lsdabc:

I can appreciate being sober. There's nothing wrong with it at all. My mind feels so much clearer for a start. :sun:

I'm usually sober except for weed and caffeine. Lately mostly only smoking a little weed in the evening. Take psychedelics on occasion, but usually not more than a handful of times a year. I drink on occasion also, but I really don't like the side effects of it very much anymore, so I keep it to occasional and minimal these days for the most part.

ya gotta eat right if you want to stay sober.
I went from blazing an eighth a day, binge drinking, and abusing amphetamines to very minimal use.  I smoke weed once a month and do not crave it at all.

Drugs manipulate pleasure centers in the brain which are also put in place to reward the body for eating.  Eat tons of carbs.  Keep the fat intake and the protein intake low.  This worked for me and I suspect it will work for others.  The diet I follow is called 801010

i am on a sober/health kick right now - no booze, no gluten, no sugar, no dairy & no factory farmed meat. i would say i spend about 4 months or so a year sober, and would like to get to the point where that's constant. when i say sober, i mean from alcohol and stimulants - i don't smoke cannabis, and otherwise really only do psychedelics here and there. it's good to give you body a break now & then. i feel like i sleep so much better when i am off alcohol & coffee too.

I agree. I feel much better when I don't have alcohol and coffee. I find tea to be much better for me than coffee. Mostly drink just green tea.

Green tea > coffee. It's got DAT L-THEANINE which synergizes with caffeine to promote both focus and relaxation.

Yeah I feel much more focused with it so that makes sense. It just feels a lot more clean to my body too. Coffee seems like it makes my sweat kinda more oily and just leaves me feeling kinda meh. I do really enjoy the smell and taste of good coffee, so sometimes I get stuck in a coffee pattern for periods of time. Always end up coming back to the green tea though.

Your far from sober if ingesting a psychoactive drug like caffeine.its very hypocritical.
