Should I try one of these to attempt to get in extraordinarily good shape? If so, which one should I try?

My opinion is it's over hyped. Zero gains. Zero.

Yeah maybe if your idea of exercising is laying down and stuffing your face with ice cream and pizza

My opinion is that its whatever you put in is what you'll get out of it

Here's an opinion from someone who actually did use those and still is!

Me.

Mind you I've been into fitness for about 3 years and first heard about Tapout XT ( an MMA style workout dvd series ) about 7-8 months ago and I decided to try it out. At the time, my fitness routine really needed a boost. I had reached a plateau and Tapout really helped me up my game. It definitely works. You don't need much: resistance bands and weighted gloves, that's it. Oh and yeah, lots of motivation.

I've mostly moved on from Tapout nowadays though and am now using Insanity. Love the shit out of Insanity as well. It's fun, it saves time and it works the fuck out. You can torrent them and check em' out too, so you don't have to spend a dime if you can't or won't. :justdontknow:

I am currently in the best shape of my life and I save lots of time by using those dvds instead of going to the friggin' gym. Yes, I work out at home and I have Bruce Lee's body, belive it or not.

Lol I lift 6 days a week and do cardio 3 days a week. If you want to lose weight it can help. Personally I don't like rocking the scrawny look. 9 percent body fat doesn't mean shit when you have the arms of a pre pubescent teenage girl.

All a buddy of mine talks about is crossfit p90x and the like.
Has made zero gains strength wise.

To quote a quote Othyem said to me in a different thread.

"You can be 180lbs and shredded as fuck, but as soon as you put a shirt on youll still look like a skinny faggot"

Love that quote.

Sure, if you're size medium and wear large.

If you're ripped, you'll look ripped if you wear clothes that are fit for you. What kind of nonsense is that?

I wasn't talking about you dude, it was merely an example. Lots of people tend to wear larger clothes than they should. Gettho stylee you know? They end up looking like overgrown kids, it's ridiculous. What I meant is that, if you're ripped and wear clothes your size, it should show that you are ripped. Saying otherwise is nonsensical.

I have trouble getting shirts that fit. They all rape my armpits due to having lats. I guess they don't make shirts with a wide upper and small in the mid section.

Anyway, op I'd at least Recommend getting a kettlebell and doing a routine with that instead of p90x. Then get your diet inline.

So you can see a six pack through a shirt that fits properly? Shirts shouldn't fit tight around the stomach.

All of mine are tight around my back chest and arms yet loose around the stomach (these are size L)

Size XL is comfy because it doesn't "rape" my pits like said above.

Id honestly prefer to put op on full body lifting sesh every other day and cardio.

Having extra muscle = more calories burned throughout the day.

You won't gain much from p90x. Drop in bf% yes but almost no noticeable size/ strength gains unless you experience newb gains.

That wasn't the point of that sentence. You're suppose to infer from "if your idea of exercise..." means lazy.

Being fit isn't hard. Being absolutely ripped on the other hand is and nobody can out train a bad diet, though I'm sure you all know that.

Then your friend obviously isn't doing something right or isn't working hard enough/consistently. Anyone not making gains means one of those two. Sure you'll make more strength gains lifting and everyone should lift, but doing crossfit and body exercises will still increase your strength.

I could eat pretty shitty and maintain 8 percent body fat pretty well if I do some cardio. I'm a really hard gainer though.

Define pretty shitty? Because I've met some people who eat fast food multiple times a day, big bag of chips, ice cream and all sorts of fucking nasty shit on top of drinking like a 6 pack of beer that is probably at least 5k calories a day.

I eat pizza and burgers constantly, can mantain a 4pacl zero cardio. All the crossfit people I've met have benched between 135-185 max, far from impressive 185 is my warm up set on chest and tris day. Now this is crossfit ONLY people. If you lift and supplement with crossfit good for you.

Most of the guys in the crossfit games are pretty strong. Not powerlifting strong but deffinetly decent. The thing is most of them came into that sport with around that level of size/strength and are essentially
just adding endurance.
