big patch in the trees

my roommate went for a hike today at crescent park, british columbia(on the coast) and took this photo.  any ideas what they are? other than being non active?  no specimens were taken so not additional information, sorry.

They appear to be Hypholoma fasciculare.  Nice pic, but makes it hard to ID them.
