Shrooms of Mushiness
    #19004393 - 10/20/13 03:21 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Here's the rundown:

Woodbury, CT

Growing out of wood chips, in clusters

Stem is yellowish with gills attached when young, darkening to brown with gills detached when mature

When very young, a veil is seen concealing the gills

Vertical steaks run down the stipe

Cap darkens in the center, getting lighter towards the edges

Pictures:

- Veil seen on young fruit

- darkening stipe

- growing in dense clusters as seen here

I'm sorry.  They are Hebeloma.

Because of the veil? Are you sure. Can anyone else confirm this?

jet li is correct. Because of the veil, the cream colours, the long narrow gills turning light brown, the chunky white equal stem... I'm afraid that's what it is.

Ok, great.

I'm just recording every species I find in the area. This is a new one for me.
