Hypsizygus tessellatus help

Been playing with these again, with not much success. Using a full quart of grain spawned to pasteurized fuel pellets with gypsum. Grown indoors around the mid 60's sometimes warmer.
1st try - sat for a month or more (after birthing) before pinning, most pins aborted but several grew out and I harvested about 2oz of mushrooms.
2nd try - did 2 bags the same way, let these incubate for a couple months before birthing one. Most pins formed on the sides of the bag, I misted frequently to keep them from drying out, but the same thing happened and most aborted, got a few mushrooms that's all. Threw the bag in the garage when I went on vacation and came back to the biggest one I've grown so far, but still only like 3 mushrooms and they're rather strange looking, not something you could really sell.

The other bag I let incubate longer waiting to see if it'd pin in the bag, it never did (after 3 months) but I got this when I birthed it today:
Some strange, light fluffy mycelium balls, they're like cotton.
So what's the deal, is this just a species that needs to be cased? Does misting the pins make them abort? Do they just need more humidity than everything else I've grown? I moved my GH by the glass door to bring the temps down so we'll see if that helps but otherwise I'm lost

It's 65-70 in my house. I read 55-65 so I was hoping they might do alright a little on the high side like some other species can, but I guess not.
That would explain my one biggest best mushroom appearing when I put the block outside for vacation...
Thanks man I think you might have saved my over-incubated block I just birthed. I re-closed the bag and put it in the garage. It's getting down into the 40's here at night though, think it'll still be alright?

My first attempt did not look like pic #1 but the second one did. It was a different culture on the second try. Where did you get that one? Here's a photo from my second grow....

Dang things are tasty. I need to give them another attempt.

My culture is from Sporeworks. I was wondering if it was the heat that made their heads explode
IIRC we noticed in another thread that my culture (Sporeworks) as well as yours from Ralphster, and theSporeDepot in their own picture kinda did this to some degree. That's why I'm thinking it's maybe the heat. Of course certain cultures could be more prone than others, but it doesn't seem to be just one culture.
And yeah, they're damn delicious. Crunchy texture unlike any other mushroom I've tried. Absolutely awesome, that's why I'd love to really get these down. Do you guys case yours or no?

No casing on either. If I kept better records I could tell when I grew each and at what temps. What can I say, my fly by night operation is a bit lacking on discipline.

Yep, it'll be all right, I find these on logs into November after there's been some cold nights well below freezing, just have to make sure it's humid enough where it's fruiting.
