First off, sorry about the amount of photos in one thread. I know how annoying that can be.

I belive most of these to be active but have limited knowledge and am only able to identify libs at present with any certain degree of accuracy. With this in mind i would appreciate any help offered in identifying these species

These were all  found in the same location. Some growing in dung.

Habitat: All found in grass land with grazing animals. Pics 1-6 in dung (1-3 actually by the side of dung and not in it). Pics 7-14 in grass.

Gills: Pics 1-3 tan brown, free. Pics 4-6 black. Pics 7-8 browny colour, close. Pics 9-11 also brown/black in colour, close. Pics 12-14 again black, close.

Stem: Pics 1-3 white/yellowish, blue bruising at base, stong/thick. Pics 4-6 dark brown, strong. Pics 7-8 Light to dark brown, hollowish. Pics 9-11 white, thick, strong. Pics 12-14 Light to white and browny in colour strong, thin.

Cap: Pics 1-3 Creamy to light brown, convex in younger ones becoming concave or open. Pics 4-6 Convex, silvery, grey. Pics 7-8 Light and dark brown, convex. Pics 9-11 Caramel cap with nipple, convex. Pics 12-14 Almost black, convex

Spore print color: Non taken sorry

Bruising: No bruising noticed on any except on the stem of pics 1-3

Sorry for the limited information. I hope its enough to help me identify if these are active or not. Thanks

1-3 Psathyrella
4-6 Panaeolus papilionaceus
7,8 probably Panaeolina foenisecii, take a spore print
9-11 Lacrymaria velutina
12-14 inactive Panaeolus, probably P. acuminatus
None are psychoactive.

You won't find any psychoactive mushrooms in pastures in the UK other than P. semilanceata and P. cinctulus.

Really?? I'm sure P. Olivaceus are found in the UK. I actually posted a thread a few days ago of some that i needed an ID on. Most agreed that they may well be interesting and should be sent for mycroscopy

Also are Panaeolina foenisecii not active then? I always thought them to contain Psilocybin? But am probably wrong.

I'm now trying to broaden my knowledge in identifying other active mushrooms instead of just libs, so all help appreciated.

Is that species even psychoactive, or is it like P. foenisecii falsely labeled as such? I don't know, I'm not really interested in psychoactive mushrooms.
But you certainly won't find Psilocybe cubensis in the UK...
Panaeolina foenisecii, along with Panaeolus semiovatus and several others is often described psychoactive in field guides, but it's not in reality.

Ok, good to know. Thanks for your informative info. Its all knowledge greatly received.

Is there any info on why the stems on pics 1-3 bruised blue? Its not very noticeable in the pictures but is visible when looking at them in the flesh. Are the species you identified them as known for this?

No; you likely misinterpreted a trick of the light on the fibrous stems as blue bruising.

They probably are Psathyrella but it is possible we are missing something. I wouldn't expect the stems to be fibrous. bubbles if you have any more info on eg spores or pellicle, or close ups on bruising, to settle that... But if when trying to find the seperable pellicle the cap breaks off slightly waxy then Psath for sure.

Hey Joie, thanks for your post. Unfortunately all of the specimens were lost.

I'd picked around 300 libs the same day and put them all in the oven (fan on only no heat) to dry them out and left the house.

My brother came home before me and decided to cook dinner. The libs were on a seperate tray in the middle of the oven and the rest at the top. He saw the libs and took them out, but did'nt realise the others were on the top shelf untill he had incinerated them, lol. Needless to say there all now in the bin. Just thankful he took the libs out
