Was browsing around ebay and amazon for a while and I was in between getting a nesco a nesco FD37 and a nesco FD-75PR.
I decided to spend the extra $20 and get the FD-75PR and I cant wait til it gets here. The only problem is now I will have to grow something in order to test it out

awesome purchase, I've had the pleasure to dry on a Excalibur thanks to a close friend who uses one for work. But, I don't mind waiting a little bit longer for the cracker dry status on my own cheap dehydrator at home

It would take just as long.
The excalibur does not get any hotter than most $30 dehydrators.
It just costs 10X as much for some reason.

Don't get me wrong Hacker I'm not disagreeing with you but this is just one of the retarded reasons why they cost so much or.. i should say one of their reasons why
"It’s the only home dehydrator that has Parllexx® Horizontal-Airflow Drying System. The fan and the adjustable thermostat create excellent airflow, each tray receiving its own “jet stream” of forced air. Most other dehydrator radiate heat; they don’t direct it"
but like i said.. ive noticed the same cracker dry status on my cheap 40$ amazon dehydrator...takes 10 - 15 minutes longer imo. but thats just a guesstamation.

Most descent dehydrators have fans, so the heat is not "radiant"....it is "directed" downward to the bottom tray, where it can then flow back up and out the sides.

Yea, and a big one.
there are a shit ton of variables that come into play, like fruit size, density, initial moisture content, etc.
There would be no way to compare their performance in minutes...
Just sayin...a 2 hour difference still would not justify the price difference.

I did notice that the more expensive dehydrators were in a box shape instead of being circular... But I cant imagine the shape of the dehydrator making a $50+ dollar difference?
