Largest horde of mushrooms you've seen while hunting?
    #19001089 - 10/19/13 07:23 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

This is mine that I actually took a picture of. I did see a tree that literally had mushrooms growing from the bottom to about 2 meters in hight, but didn't think to take a picture of it.

Anyone else seen any absolutely massive hordes of mushroom active or no?

If this does happen to be in the wrong place let me know.

lol... yeah, I can show you an entire hillside of giant honey clusters... but, it will be just one of many that will end up here... Honeys are always going to be the most prolific ones you will ever see.

Such a great idea for a thread!

Here's one:

Also, here's these which I have no clue the species.  They aren't Pholiota squarroides or Chicken Of The Woods.  Each was 6"-10", very rubbery yet firm.  They were a red-orange and looked just like crab shells.  They went up and down the tree further than this photo.  I wish I could have gotten a full shot >_<

Color apart, that sure resembles Pholiota limonella a lot. No idea what species it truly is though.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Aside from honeys I find huge clusters of Coprinellus micaceus. Heres just one cluster for now.

It really is amazing Armillaria is taking over the forest floors! I think they are the majority of what Ive been finding!
