Back again and need help on first bulk grow

Awhile back I did some fun with cakes and got great feedback. Every cultivator I talked to suggested with my yields, I move onto bulk. So now that I'm pretty well into it. My tubs are almost fully colonized after about 5 days. And that means bottom and all, not just the top. Top is nice and frosty. With that said I want to either introduce a casing layer of 60 verm/40 peat and wondering if it's worth the effort. A lot of people in search are saying I need more of a ph buffer introduced too which would overall be too much hastle and i'd just fruit. Should I do the 60/40 however?
P.S. Would love some tips about consolidating, I know it's not good to rush things but this is actually my 3rd wave of tubs. I was having an issue with the actual tubs not being air tight enough, and some that were fine, would get cobweb from waiting too long to colonize. I'm assuming my issue was the depth I was aiming for and lowered it drastically from the 3-4 inches - 2 inches flat.

Cubes don't need to be cased, and at this point I would recommend you just fruiting so you don't case with improperly pasteurized casing and lose everything.
You don't need to let tubs consolidate.

I've read that casing is optional before too, i'm just scared to open the tub at all unless it's ready to fruit ya know? It's not necessary but I would love a better yield. You sure about that consolidating? I have 1 tub that has shrunken around the rims, i'm assuming that's ready to be fruited but wanted to give it some extra days just in case the bottom isn't fully good to go

You don't need to consolidate monotubs. I'm sure.
You can open your tub and take pictures and check its progress without worry. That won't be enough to initiate fruiting.

^ what he said. i love monotubs. they're great. if it's fully colonized initiate fruiting on that puppy! no need for consolidation. stuff those holes with polyfil and give it a nice 12/12 light cycle. i personally prefer to fan in the beginning and sometimes mist and fan later on, although this is optional with a properly dialed in monotub. they're supposed to be set and forget.
post back with the results when you start getting some pins!

so it's been about 10 days, no pins yet, i'm concerned. I do have a fan on low inside of the room and fan/mist often to make sure it looks humid in the environment. I lost 1 tub to a possible contam "black chalky substance on top." Some have promising hyphal knots i'm used to seeing off of pf cakes. Maybe I should fan more often but I thought tubs were more of a leave alone situation.
