Given that my emotionally invested FWB has been acting weird, I think I just may.
It might just be the wine talking.

If you are a regular alcohol drinker can you please tell me why you drink? and how does it make you feel?
thanks.
I drink to kill the pain, whether it be physical or emotional. I also drink when i'm out of benzos apparently. i'd much rather have a steady supply of opiates and reliable benzos. I think and talk too much. these sedative/hypnotics help me be socially normal and allow me to sleep. I've had sleep issues since I was 2 years old, probably earlier.

If you don't alcohol that's fine but this is a ridiculous baseless claim.

It's not a baseless claim at all.
In a society it is the responsibility of its constituent members to look out for the well being and safety of those around them. Everybody needs to chip in. Think about driving for instance, we all have lapses in judgement now and then but so long as at least one driver is paying attention a collision is unlikely.
Public places are absolutely ridden with hazards. Violent people, broken glass, cars, wildlife and people that just aren't paying attention. It is therefore a collective effort to stay safe. If you see someone about to step on a piece of glass you warn them, if you see a small child about to walk out in front of a car, you grab them and they do the same for you.
Alcohol on the other hand significantly reduces good judgment, reflexes and awareness if favor of hedonistic pleasure. You become ignorant of dangers both to you and the people around you. Because of this the people around you (those than aren't intoxicated) have to look out for your retarded ass because you've forfeited this ability out of pure selfishness.
Not only are you no longer helping to protect yourself and those around you from hazards, but you can actually become one. Not paying attention you may wonder out in front of a moving car and endanger both yourself and the motorist, or get overly upset and violent with someone, maybe accidentally breaking some glass that another poor bastard will step on.
When you're in public you have responsibilities. By choosing to drink in public you're ignoring these responsibilities and this scream volumes about your character (i.e. this person is a self absorbed, uncaring, hedonistic piece of shit that sponges off the good decisions of others)
Private alcohol consumption is an entirely different story as all participants are aware of the collective inebriation and can and should take steps to minimize harm. Trip sitters are a good example of this while using psychedelics.
I'm not saying you shouldn't drink in public, or that it can't be fun. I'm saying that if you know someone who does you should avoid them as they are inadvertently demonstrating the worst possible character traits a human can possess when they do.
