I'm voting for Trudeau in the next election. He seems like an intelligent, earnest individual with people's best interests at heart. That is the kind of Canada I want to live in, not the wannabe-US Canada of Harper.
Maybe Trudeau's stance is all a facade, but at least he's saying the things I want to hear. I am diametrically opposed to Harper's stances on virtually every human rights issue which is a far bigger deal to me than the economy.

I have a funny feeling that with JT in the running, a lot more young people will turn out to vote.

Everybody always says that there will be a bigger turnout because of whatever reason. Its never the case. Even 2008 Obama didn't manage to get a 60% turnout.
Unless the new Hitler tries to get power somewhere I doubt anything will make people go out and vote.

Yep I'll probably vote Liberal next time too, for what will be the fist time ever. Liberal-NDP vote splitting has kept the Cons in power for too long. I would think there are others reaching that point. Merging the two parties would probably be their best collective bet at defeating the Conservatives, but neither party wants to make that compromise and the NDP has far less of a shot without Layton. Like Layton did, Trudeau has more charisma than Harper does which can't hurt his chances. Most other leaders of any of the national parties in the years since since Chretien have been pretty awkward and unlikable.

Vancouver and Victoria will definitely slide Liberal, greens may split them a tiny bit. I doubt NDP has much to offer now, they became the 'centrists' after becoming the official opposition. I'm sure their support in BC feels alienated.
The BC interior is an odd place though, not sure what will happen there. Though marijuana policies do matter a lot in that province.
Times are a changing on the Canadian West.

I actually think that Trudeau will bring a lot of NDP voter's back into the Liberal camp. From what I have seen so far it looks like the Liberals obviously realize they are losing to left-splits and are moving their policy a little bit left to bring over voters from the NDP.

Liberal policies actually seem more left-wing now compared to the NDP, IMO

What i know is that since we voted in masse for the NDP, the federal government dont want to fund our projects here.
Also, dont forget that to bring the oil from the west you have to carry it in pipelines. I dont think that we (Quebec) will let this pass. There is no way that ill support a politic that create oleoducs carrying oil over the fertile lands

What you just said is exactly what is happening in BC as well.
Any program that Harper knows is generally supported by solid left wingers is attacked because he knows not to bother earning favour with those people.
What he lacks in charisma, he makes up in tactics.

I'm also voting for Trudeau, he publicly claimed to have smoked weed and wants to legalise it.

A platform that includes marijuana legalization could earn them a significant number of voters who normally either vote NDP or don't vote at all. Anyone opposed to legalization is probably voting conservative regardless.
