Isn't it a bit late to start the fall semester and wasn't the most recent Thanksgiving about 11 months ago?

Great info, appreciate the indepth reply.

I read elsewhere that the GPA doesn't transfer, just the credits ...

Quote:

There are two types of GPA, Institutional and Collegiate Cumulative. Grades you earn at any previous school are not used to calculate your institutional GPA at your present school. But, those grades do remain as part of your collegiate cumulative GPA.

When you transfer or apply for grad school, transcripts from all schools attended are required. This is where your cumulative GPA comes into play.

Also, there are some schools that do indeed transfer in grades as well as credit. Most often, they do not.

- Google answers.

I am in Canada btw, so our education system is quite a bit different than the American system, from my understanding. The Field I am going into (wildlife biology) is well represented at both universities. My father has biology degree from the "low tier" university that I'll do my first 2 years at, and has a great job ... obviously it isn't that much of an issue.

The 2nd university is actually quite young, but is a research institution and considerably more acclaimed, aswell as offering graduate programs.

At this point, graduate school seems attractive - but it's so far off that I am not thinking about that!

It seems like for certain careers (law, medicine, etc.) the prestige of the university is very important. However, I don't think undergrad biology would affect my job options too much. Many jobs are in rural places anyways...

Canadian thanksgiving was last weekend.

Fall semester 2014. - Applications just opened.

I will be speaking with admissions on Monday and report back with what I find out.

(I am pretty excited about this - even though it means i'll be upgrading through the summer.)

Also, both universities are quite similar, fairly close, and within the same province - I suspect the credits to be transferable.

Don't listen to anything zappaisgod will say to you.  Eventually he will start calling you a parasite for living with your parents..  He's here to troll, not to help.
