Do you know what kind of tree the stump was?
I didn't see if you said what area you are in.
It may be a Ganoderma.

This one may be of help then.
It's an old publication so species may be missing and some names will not be current, but it may be the place to start.

Cespitose habit under hardwoods suggests otherwise. So does size, particularly at that state of maturity.

How about the splitting gills? Mykoweb says they can be clustered, mushroom expert says they are found usually (Not only) under conifers. Its hard to tell what kind of wood the wood chips are. As far as I am aware, Omphalotus does not have split gills, do you know differently?

Either the gills in Omphalous do in fact tend to fork near their root, the the decurrent portion of the stipe, or there is a Hygrophoropsis of the same size, habit and coloration of Omphalotus illudens which even Dr. Kuo can not distinguish, and which do luminesce.
