E novogranatense fruiting
    #18999092 - 10/19/13 10:29 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

I grew these two little guys from seed in May 2012 and they struggled to adapt to the Florida sunshine/heat. I never babied these guys... they were in full sunshine from day one. However, after almost a year and a half, here they are doing great and finally producing fruit for me!

Looks like I'll have a decent number of E. novo berries to trade soon!

I usually go commercial. But make your own to avoid problems. Peat , perlite, some dolomite and guanoa are good

Bob, that is an awesome looking novo! I can't believe that it is only a year and half old. I think it is quite large for its age. Please tell me about the soil? What do you feed it and how often?

Thanks a lot!

To be quite honest, I really don't take much care of my novos. The soil is a mixture of Fox Farm Ocean Forest, coarse sand, perlite, and a little bit of sphagnum moss. I only really added all of that extra stuff to the Ocean Forest because I was running low on it and wanted to make it last lol. As far as feeding is concerned, I generally use Botanicare Pure Blend (Pro Grow 3-2-4, Pro Bloom 1-4-5, and Liquid Karma .1-.1-.5). I just eyeball the amounts. I feed maybe once a month or every other month.

As seedlings, I noticed they seemed to react much better to being in filtered sunlight or bright shade. They seem to be able to handle more direct sunlight as they get older but I feel they do appreciate a break from the mid-afternoon Florida sun.
