Portland forested parkland in shaded wood chips at base of Douglas Fir tree.  Curious what it is.  Closest I can find in my books is Polypore or Spine fungus.  Either way the coolest find on my hike yesterday.

Never seen one with that coloring though, cool looking fungus.

Dyer's polypore cool! I knew I was getting close to id, but the color of the picture of Phaeolus schweinitzii in my book is much more yellowish-brown...but does say changes color with age(getting more grayish).Thanks for the info.  Time to break out some wool and do some dying.
